Israel is conducting a new wave of strikes across Iran tonight. Specifically, strikes were reported in the capital Tehran, as Iranian air defenses are active. Early reports indicate that Israel may have conducted yet another decapitation strike this evening in Tehran as well. More to come.

SCOOP: @TulsiGabbard’s political staff expect that she is about to RESIGN, following the resignation of her colleague @joekent16jan19. This comes after two days of her testimony in front of Congress this week where she never once expressed support for President Trump or his decisions. Instead, she used her time during the hearings to affirm President Trump’s right to make decisions as President of the United States, making it clear she doesn’t support those decisions. Despite what she is telling the White House, one of her closest advisors anticipates her resignation is coming soon. President Trump should not allow Gabbard the dignity of a resignation, followed by her immediately trashing him on MSDNC, CNN, the View, and Tucker Carlson’s podcast. @SusieWiles @DanScavino @MarcoRubio

Iranians saying the ships taken out on the northern Caspian coast of Iran were loaded with Russian drones and weapons. This would explain the lighter than average drone attacks on Kyiv the past month.

Iran’s actions over the last 40 years have imposed a hidden tax on oil — The Iran Terror Premium. Removing it could dramatically lower global energy prices.

Victor Davis Hanson draws an uncanny comparison between President Trump and Winston Churchill — two leaders warning about a growing threat while the world refuses to listen. Hanson said that for 47 years, every U.S. president promised to deal with Iran, but Trump is the first one to actually do it. HANSON: “In 1939 Churchill had warned everybody about the threat of fascism on the continent…nobody listened to him.” “Then after the war broke out, nobody called on him and then finally he came in and from May 10th of 1940 he was saying to everybody, these people want to take over the continent.” “He was the voice in the wilderness.” “That’s what Trump is trying to do, trying to say to the American Democratic party, what’s left of it, you don’t understand what’s going on here.” “You Europeans don’t understand, you people in the Middle East don’t fully understand what this regime is about.” “When people say we did not have an imminent threat, we didn’t have an imminent threat when they took our hostages, when they blew up our barracks.” “Nobody said we better attack Iran because we need an imminent threat when they blew up our embassy, they always acted spontaneously with surprises and we never knew what they were going to do.” “The idea you have to have a telegraphed imminent threat, it’s not the nature of that regime.” “It’s lying, disguise and dissimulation. That’s their pattern for the last 47 years.” “But nobody’s taken them seriously.” “Every president’s said we’re going to deal with this, all seven of them and all seven did not.” “And then all seven of them when they got out of office said I regret that I didn’t” “He’s the first one that warned the world and said he’s not going to be one of those presidents.”

This is an absolute must read "Perhaps a more serious problem is that Beijing is being forced by the rapidly declining rate of return on capital investment to devote an increasing portion of lending to recapitalize and subsidize both banks and firms operating at a loss. Net interest margins have declined by half since 2014. As a result, loans to the real economy have fallen by 9 percent of new credit creation in recent years. Much of the gap is likely going into propping up the banking sector instead of to new investment." hudson.org/economics/how-…

Here’s @VDHanson on the Left’s opposition to the Iran conflict: “if Trump were to be successful, that would be a foreign policy triumph... so the stakes are pretty high for the Left… they're going to try to stop it”

Victor Davis Hanson says global signals suggest the tide is turning against Iran, arguing U.S. military dominance and shifting alliances point toward a potential collapse if pressure continues: “There’s enough evidence to see how things are really going. Europeans would never agree to go anywhere near Iran unless they thought the tide was turning and that we’re going to win. Otherwise, they would keep still. And the reason that the petro nations of the Gulf survive is they have their finger in the wind and are very attuned to the climate. When you have Al Jazeera praising the United States’ bombing campaign and saying that it’s been underestimated and is brilliant and effective, you get the feeling that they think not only should the United States finish the job, but that it can and will finish the job. So you put it all together, and I think it’s pretty clear that this rope-a-dope strategy—that we’re going to tire before they do—is dependent on public opinion, the midterms, and the United States. And if Trump sees it through—and I think he will—I think they’re going to fall pretty soon.”

Victor Davis Hanson says President Trump is embracing a new philosophy of warfare in the Iran conflict — one built on intelligence and technology, NOT boots on the ground. No more door-to-door combat. HANSON: “I think his philosophy is we are not going to put people in a Fallujah-like context where they are going door-to-door against jihadists that know the terrain and the environment.” “We’re not going to do that. We’re going to play to our strengths.” “Which is intelligence, technology, firepower, and we are going to do it in a new way, with enhanced drones and satellite reconnaissance so we know the individual names of individual commanders.” “That’s new.”
