𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 While India has around 𝟮𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝟰𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬+ 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 (MoHFW, 2025), the real challenge lies in how these are distributed and who they truly serve. States like 𝗨𝗣 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗿, with extremely high population densities (UP: ~828 persons/sq km), face far greater strain despite large hospital counts. In contrast, less dense or smaller states may have fewer hospitals but a more balanced service load. To put things into perspective, Bihar has 2 & UP has 5 hospitals for every 1 Cr population, while Maharashtra & Karnataka has 7 and 10 hospitals for every 1 Cr people. Moreover, 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 tend to cluster in wealthier, urbanised states such as 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗮, while remote and low-income regions lag behind due to logistical and financial barriers. The takeaway is clear: 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. India’s healthcare progress depends on 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹–𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲. #HealthcareInIndia #HospitalInfrastructure #PublicHealth #HealthcareAccess #HealthData

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Indian Chess Grandmaster #Viswanathan Anand has a 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 named after him — 𝟰𝟱𝟯𝟴 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗵𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱. This minor planet was 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗼 #𝗦𝘂𝘇𝘂𝗸𝗶 of #Japan at the Toyota Observatory in 1988, but it remained unnamed for decades. In April 2015, Michael Rudenko, a member of the Minor Planet Centre, officially named it 4538 Vishyanand in Anand’s honour, stating: “After careful consideration, I selected him because in addition to being a great chess player, he is also a gentleman and astronomy enthusiast.” A fitting tribute to one of India’s most brilliant minds — both on and off the chessboard.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? The 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 is a 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 that warns how close humanity is to self-inflicted catastrophe. It was created in 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟳 by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists — an organization founded in 1945 by Albert Einstein, 𝗝. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿, and University of Chicago scientists from the Manhattan Project. Since then, the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board meets annually to review global risks and then decide whether to reset the clock’s hands or not. First focused on nuclear risks, it has since expanded to reflect climate and other technology-driven threats. 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗳 designed the Clock, using “𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁” to signal apocalypse and a countdown to capture the imminent danger posed by nuclear weapons. The hands of the clock have been reset 27 times — most recently in January 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, now at 𝟴𝟱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, the closest ever. The message is simple: our choices can move the hands back.

#Delhi Leads the Pack in #Credit Card Usage #India today has 67 million credit card users — but the picture looks very different once you zoom into the states. #UttarPradesh leads with 9.66M users (4.0% of its 241.5M population). Its sheer size drives the number, though penetration remains modest. #Maharashtra follows closely at 9.61M users (9.5%), fueled by #Mumbai’s financial ecosystem. #Bihar has 6.75M users (1.5%), reflecting a large population base but very low penetration due to rural dominance and low income levels. #WestBengal counts 6.43M users (3.5%), while #MadhyaPradesh has 4.36M (2.5%). Smaller regions like #Lakshadweep (0.001M) and #Ladakh (0.01M) record negligible usage due to their small or cash-heavy economies. Why the disparity? 1. Urbanization → Delhi shines with 12.0% penetration, backed by a 93% urban population. 2. #Income#Chandigarh’s 11.0% rate reflects its high per capita income of ₹4.65 lakh, enabling residents to afford credit, while Bihar lags at 1.5% with ₹0.47 lakh as per capita income. 3. #Digital access → Karnataka (8.5%) rides on Bengaluru’s 74% smartphone penetration, while Lakshadweep struggles with weak connectivity. 4. Education → Tamil Nadu (7.5%) benefits from 80% literacy, while Jharkhand (1.0%) is constrained by a 67% literacy rate. 5. Bank reach → Maharashtra’s banking networks enable 9.5% penetration, compared to Nagaland’s 0.2%. The Road Ahead India’s credit card growth will be led by urban India’s digital ecosystem, but bridging rural gaps in income, infrastructure, and awareness is key to achieving balanced expansion. What do you think will drive the next big leap in India’s credit card adoption — higher incomes, better infrastructure, or fintech innovations?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 #𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 #𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 For most 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, education isn’t just an investment — it's an emotional and financial commitment. But what happens when that commitment starts to burn a hole in the household budget? As per latest data, the average 𝗽𝗲𝗿-𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 #expenditure #households bear for school education ranges from ₹𝟮,𝟴𝟲𝟯 in government schools to a staggering ₹𝟯𝟱,𝟳𝟱𝟴 in urban private unaided schools. These aren't just numbers. They reflect the silent pressure many families feel — juggling rising school fees, tuition costs, uniforms, transport, and more. Especially in #urban areas, the dream of quality education often comes with frequent fee hikes and hidden costs, turning it into a recurring financial worry for middle-class households. Meanwhile, in #rural regions, though the spending is lower, access and quality remain significant concerns. As we look at these disparities, one question lingers: Are we making education better — or just more expensive? Let’s rethink not just how we teach — but also how we price learning. Education should empower, not exhaust.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗶𝗸𝗱𝗮𝗿, 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗿, was the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 to calculate the height of Mount Everest back in 1852 — long before anyone ever set foot on its summit. Working as a 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿 for the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, Sikdar used innovative trigonometric calculations to prove that Peak XV (later named Mount Everest) was the world’s tallest mountain. At just 19 years old, in 1831, Sikdar joined the Survey after being recommended for his genius in spherical trigonometry, and broke through colonial barriers with his pioneering work. Next time Mount Everest amazes you, remember the unsung Indian hero who scaled its heights with mathematics — Radhanath Sikdar!. #RadhanathSikdar #MountEverest

The Global Conundrum of the Indian Kitchens Did you know India is the second-largest consumer and largest importer of edible oils. The prices of this commodity, however, have been historically shaped by global shocks, price swings, trade dependence, and largely contingent upon geopolitical scenarios. Today, India’s per capita consumption stands at 19.7 kg/year, which is 50% over and above the WHO’s recommendations. Yet, domestic production meets only 40–45% of demand, forcing the country to import nearly 60% of its needs. In 2023–24 alone, India imported 15.96 MT of edible oil worth ₹1.32 lakh crore, with palm oil commanding a lion’s share (37% share) followed by soybean oil imports at 21%. Soybean oil imports surged nearly threefold in December 2024 to 420,000 tonnes, capturing 58% of the market. But the narrative is shifting. From mega oil palm plantations to duty tweaks and the National Mission on Edible Oils, India is actively reducing this vulnerability. Through National Mission on Edible Oils (NMEO-Oil Palm and NMEO-Oilseeds), over ₹11,000 crore is being invested to boost local production, including the planting of 17 lakh palm saplings. From farmers to food tech, India is sowing the seeds of food security. #India #FoodSecurity #EdibleOil #SupplyChain #EconomicPolicy #MakeInIndia #AgriBusiness #TradeStrategy

India’s #Internet Growth Story: Uneven but Transformative With 886 million active internet users, #India is one of the largest connected nations in the world. But when we dig deeper, the story is far from uniform across states. Top Performers: #Kerala (72%), #Goa (71%), and #Maharashtra (70%) continue to lead India’s digital penetration, maintaining steady growth. Lagging Behind: #Bihar (43%), #UttarPradesh (46%), and #Jharkhand (50%) are still playing catch-up. Yet, these very states are showing the highest growth momentum — Bihar alone clocked an impressive 18% year-on-year growth. Key Insight: While overall growth in internet users has slowed, rural India is expanding at twice the pace of urban India. This signals a powerful shift: the next wave of digital adoption will not come from metros but from villages and small towns. The Bigger Picture: The opportunity lies in bridging the #digital divide — ensuring that access translates into meaningful usage. Businesses and policymakers must now look beyond penetration rates and focus on digital inclusion, affordability, and relevance of content. The surge in rural #connectivity has the potential to reshape consumption patterns, education, and governance. India’s digital journey isn’t just about numbers — it’s about ensuring that connectivity empowers lives everywhere, not just in the top-performing states. #DigitalIndia #InternetPenetration #RuralIndia #TechnologyForAll #DigitalInclusion

From the timeless grandeur of the Colosseum to the spiritual rhythm of the Ghats of Varanasi, our world heritage sites are more than monuments — they are living stories of culture, identity, and continuity. On World Heritage Day (April 18), we are reminded that preserving these spaces is not just about protecting the past, but safeguarding what continues to shape our present and future. This year’s theme — “Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Contexts of Conflicts and Disasters” — brings urgency to this responsibility. From climate change to conflict zones, our shared heritage faces unprecedented threats. Conservation today is no longer optional — it is essential. Because when we protect heritage, we protect the stories that define us. #WorldHeritageDay #CulturalHeritage #Conservation #Sustainability #ProtectOurHeritage

𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿: 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗶’𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 reflects precisely this spirit. Written by 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗹, along with Nitan Kapoor and Ajay Shriram — and dedicated to the memory of 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗸 𝗡𝗶𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗮 — the book captures how friendships deepen over years of shared meals and unhurried conversations across Delhi’s iconic restaurants. Within its pages, the city’s dining establishments are not merely places to eat; they become markers of time, witnesses to evolving relationships, and part of the cultural rhythm of the city itself. It was therefore a pleasure to present the book to 𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗷𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗶, Managing Director and CEO, EIH Limited. The gesture felt especially meaningful as 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗼, once an elegant Italian restaurant that graced The Oberoi, New Delhi, finds its place in the narrative of Delhi’s dining legacy. A fitting reminder that great restaurants do more than serve food — they become part of the moments that stay with us long after the meal. @OberoiHotels The Oberoi, New Delhi DCM Shriram LTD Nirula's Ajay Arora #TableForFour #OberoiHotels #TheOberoi #LuxuryHospitality #DelhiRestaurants #DiningCulture #FineDiningExperience #FoodStories #DiningMemories #ConversationsOverFood
