What’s stopping the Giants from signing DTs Reader, Harris AND Calais? 1. Every great team has a DT rotation 2. The cap is BS and the Giants have plenty of 2027, 2028 space to dip into 3. All three can be promised a sizable role 4. Provides insurance in case any get hurt

This Malachi Fields pick is growing on me fast especially if the Giants plan to move him inside and use him as a weapon vs zone (63rd percentile Reception Perception, converted QB who sees zone well) as a receiver and a BLOCKER in the run game. He also doesn’t drop anything.

Malachi Fields was a player the Giants "coveted," per GM Joe Schoen. Giants had him in their cluster of players for Round 2. So they paid a steep price for Fields when he was available in the middle of Round 3. Impressive catch radius. Big body (6-4, 218). The different body type Giants wanted for their wide receiving corps. Schoen referred to Fields as their power forward. The Giants also thought that Fields was the "best receiver down there" at the Senior Bowl earlier this year.

This is an interesting look at what the Giants gave up. I would argue that they gave up even more actually considering the "25% future discount" shouldn't apply since the 2027 class is a near lock to be better than 26. What's clear is they had a conviction. See Fields as a can't miss guy. Schoen has had a lot of convictions. Harbaugh now on board with conviction calls. Hopefully they get this one right.
