And therein lies the problem. That's the narrative. Every homeless person is supposed to be an addict who burnt every bridge and is choosing to live on the streets. That's the idea. No homeless person has ever had an education, a home, a job, a PAST. No. There are people who fled abuse on a moments notice, there are millionairs who lost it all, divorced women who got nothing in the settlement, women with children who have no finances and nowhere to turn, people who lost their homes due to a natural disaster, college students who couldnt afford rent, young people who got kicked out of their house by an abusive parent, disabled people who can't afford healthcare. Being homeless does not automatically mean someone has an addiction and are therefor seen as “deserving” of it due to some societally-deemed “moral failing” (despite most addictions being a result of lifelong trauma and abuse). If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone.

If abortion is criminalized, men should lose the right to walk away from a pregnancy too. You can’t force someone to carry a child and let the other parent off the hook. Responsibility doesn’t get a free pass.

Theres some personal accountability thats missing more often than it’s addressed, eg someone who says EVERYONE they date is a narcissist or ALL men are X, when its who they keep choosing
