Happy Eid to everyone. I hope Ramadan went well to those practicing. I also hope Lent is still going well for those practicing. Inspired by the likes of Dawisu and my younger brother, Dr. Bello Zailani, I used this Ramadan to take a break from social media. I was only compelled to briefly return in order to debunk an outright lie by an agency regarding our dear father, the former Governor of Kaduna, Mallam Nasir @elrufai. I would like to use this opportunity to thank those that reached out. Gratitude to all those praying for him. This includes those I know and the many I do not. It has been very emotional to observe many defending Mallam’s honour, including those he was not close with. May God bless you and yours. He is doing very well and completing all his books. Mallam, like all humans and all leaders has his flaws. However, he stands out as one of the best for many of us. The father modern Kaduna and an administrator of immense excellence. I made sure to notify him of the support and kind messages from many of you during my last visit. Our focus is still Kaduna North and my team of advisers have implemented a few initiatives on behalf of the people of Kaduna North while our attention has been on Ramadan and our father. These initiatives revolved around our areas of focus, quality education, healthcare, as well as conditional cash transfers to low income households. I will be providing these updates in line with our transparency policy. Finally, I am pleased to announce that the Committee of the Whole of the House also passed a bill I sponsored on Factoring, Assignments & Receivable Financing. It now awaits Senate Concurrence. The bill will bring great relief to MSMEs in the entire country as Interests Rates remain rather high. Please bear with me as I provide these updates in subsequent tweets. My sincere apologies to the people of Kaduna North for my absence for a month. Thank you. Signed Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai Member. Kaduna North Federal Constituency Chairman, Committee on Banking Regulations. March 20, 2026.

PRESS RELEASE IGP DIRECTS FID OPERATIVES TO OBTAIN ALHAJI SANUSI’S STATEMENT IN KANO As NPF Withdraws Invitation Letter The Nigeria Police Force has withdrawn its earlier invitation extended to Alhaji Sanusi in connection with the unfortunate incident that occurred in Kano State during the Sallah celebration on March 30, 2025. The invitation was initially issued to enable Alhaji Sanusi to provide his account of the events that led to the breakdown of law and order in the state. However, following advice from respected stakeholders and in line with the Inspector-General of Police's commitment to ensuring that policing actions are not politicized or misinterpreted, the IGP has directed that the invitation be withdrawn. Instead, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID) have been mandated on the instructions of the IGP to proceed to Kano to obtain Alhaji Sanusi's statement. Prior to the Sallah Day celebration, credible intelligence at the disposal of the Police indicated that the two (2) disputed Emirs in Kano State -Alh Ado Bayero and Alh Lamido Sanusi were planning to hold separate Durbar Festivals. The Durbar Festival is a long held tradition which involves a recognized Emir riding on horses around the city in company of his people. To forestall possible violence, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, deployed the Coordinating DIG for the North West who also serves as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, DIG Abubakar Sadiq, mni , to engage in dialogue with the two disputed Emirs in kano and the Kano State Government. It was mutually agreed that no Durbar Festival would be held to preserve peace and public safety and none of the disputed emirs will ride on horse on Sallah day. Despite this agreement, Alhaji Sanusi who had attended the Eid Prayers in his car, decided to mount a horse in a procession after Eid Prayers on Sallah Day, accompanied by local vigilantes. This triggered a confrontation by youths in the community, leading to the tragic death of one Usman Sagiru, and leaving several others injured. A situation which the Force had earlier warned against and intended to avert by the emissaries sent earlier to both Alhaji Sanusi and Alhaji Ado Bayero The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, remains resolute in its commitment to conducting its criminal investigation duties with the highest level of professionalism including the investigation of this incident. All individuals found culpable will at the end be brought to justice. To this effect, some arrests have been made prompting invitation to Alhaji Sanusi. The Force also wishes to reiterate that its actions are guided solely by the principles of justice, neutrality, and professionalism. This morning, I landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja. We were directed to a section for Nigerian passport holders. Before me were e-gates, similar to the ones at Heathrow Airport. I simply scanned my passport and it opened one gate for me. Then I took off my cap and glasses and it scanned my face and opened the second gate. That’s it! I was in!! No long queues. No excessive greeting from any immigration officer asking me what I brought back for them. Less than 1 minute and I was in!!! Honourable Minister @BTOofficial and CG @nigimmigration, I just want to say THANK YOU! I am proud of you both. God bless you!!

Why I Won’t Be Flying @lufthansa Again—A Nightmare Experience Yesterday, October 3, I was a passenger on Lufthansa flight LH0401 from JFK Airport in New York to Frankfurt Airport, with a connecting flight to Abuja. After disembarking in Frankfurt for a five-hour layover, I quickly realised that I had left my wallet in the cabin. The wallet contained all the cash I had, my debit cards, identification cards, sensitive personal and official documents, and other valuable items. Upon discovering this, barely a minute after leaving the plane, I immediately rushed to the Lufthansa staff at the terminal exit to report that I had left my wallet, emphasising the critical nature of the items inside. However, despite my explanation and the urgency of the situation, I was denied the opportunity to return to the aircraft to retrieve my belongings or have the wallet retrieved. This refusal was particularly painful, given the manifest sensitivity and value of the wallet’s contents. I followed all the proper procedures as instructed by the airline, filling out the “lost” item form, even though I knew my wallet wasn’t lost, and even reporting the matter to the police at Frankfurt Airport. I patiently waited, hoping for a positive outcome. Two German policewomen accompanied me to the Lost and Found Office, a restricted area (and they also mentioned I would only be allowed there once), where the attendant informed me that there was nothing she could do and that they would only act once the airline submitted the item—the same airline that had responded to my pleas like inefficient robots. Stripped of that wallet, I had no access to any of my bank cards or funds. If anything had disrupted my schedule—God forbid—I would have essentially become a charity case far from home, as I couldn’t even afford a one-euro snack or a bottle of water during the layover. It was a nightmare. My distress deepened when customer service representatives at both Gates B and Z, after hearing my desperate plea, callously told me that if the wallet was so important, I shouldn’t have forgotten it in my seat. For a moment, I was speechless. Such a response was not only unprofessional but also downright insensitive to a passenger who had just endured nearly nine hours of flying. I had expected better from an airline that claims to set service standards. To further compound the situation, other customer service staff told me I shouldn’t expect much from the search efforts, as the cleaning crew who attended to their planes are often thieves and unlikely to return valuable items. I was stunned and appalled by this statement. If Lufthansa was aware of this culture of theft within their airline, why wasn’t the official who stopped me from returning to retrieve my wallet more proactive in protecting my possessions or retrieving them for me? They provided no answer. The plane was still in my sight when I attempted to retrieve my wallet! The only sensible comment from their customer service came from a staff member who, after hearing what had happened, said the smartest thing would have been to retrieve the wallet immediately. He explained that the usual practice was for a member of the airline staff to accompany passengers for such retrievals, and that he had done this for several passengers before. He added that if we had met earlier, he would have done the same for me, but it was too late because the plane was already being cleaned. This lone voice of reason, a fellow Black man and the only Black staff member I encountered, was probably sympathetic because he humanised me and mentioned that he had experienced a similar misfortune during one of his own travels. Had I been travelling to a foreign country, I would have been completely stranded. This entire experience with Lufthansa’s customer service was the worst I have ever encountered. The height of unprofessionalism and disrespect was shocking, especially from an airline with such a prestigious reputation. 1/2
