@Agnxxxxxxx I wasn’t even thinking about skating when listening to this and thinking more philosophically. It really does apply to life in general

@miscevie @yukikonatsuharu Yes, I agree. It matters when such statements come from someone who was objectively the best according to the rules. Usually, it’s the ones who didn’t succeed who say that. It takes a bit of effort to admit that almost everything in life is subjective.

Just watched this whole interview and for some reason this part really resonated with me. What one person/society deems important or aspirational can be worthless to someone else. He also says later that “We’re judged arbitrarily in skating and in life everything is arbitrary.”

In 1998, a court decided that a woman's denim jeans meant she must have consented to being raped. This horrifying ruling inspired Denim Day, a day for sexual violence awareness and solidarity with survivors.
Today for Denim Day 2026, I visited one of New York City's Family Justice Centers. The staff here connects survivors of domestic and sexual violence to case management, safety planning, child care, financial support, counseling, and legal help.
Every New Yorker can get connected to a Family Justice Center by calling 311 or visiting in person. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or gender-based violence, help is available.

I still can't believe how quickly it feels like we moved on from this. This happened on the *first day*.
It hasn't even been a month.

Parents of the 168 schoolchildren killed in Minab are struggling to process the scale of the loss, returning each night to keep vigil at their children’s graves. Drop Site correspondent Mahmoud Aslan reported that families arrive carrying rugs and cushions, food, water, and candles, placing them beside the small, freshly dug graves. They clean the tombstones, tend the surrounding earth, and settle in for the night—keeping a quiet vigil until dawn. 🎥 Video report by @8Sarmad (full report is linked below)
