In a stunning moment of self-awareness while listening to Radio Quebec, I realize I only ever developed such a fixation on living in Northern New York because it was the closest I could get to living Quebec as an American. Sadly, NNY isn't one-tenth of what QC is. But you must realize that I have fantasized about moving to Canada since I was a child. I mean I have a solid 20 years of wishing I lived in Canada because of a trip to Montreal, a curling habit as a teenager, and years of watching Red Green. This was all well before Trudeau and all of Canada's recent descent into insanity. I seriously thought I could get "American Quebec" on the cheap when I moved up here 3 years ago. And, uh, if I blurred my eyes I kind of got that. But I didn't really get it. Now, what? Lean into being an American, I guess. C'est la vie.

Not enough Canadians are talking about this. The Canadian women are on an incredible run. They’ve outscored opponents 227-50 in the tournament. They just defeated the defending world champions. And they’ll play in the final next Saturday.

Paul St-Pierre Plamondon@PaulPlamondon

Bonne lecture! 👑🤴⛓️‍💥

I once stood against Law 21, but October 7 was a wake-up call. I’ve come to understand, with absolute clarity, the critical importance of secularism in Quebec. It is not just a policy—it is a safeguard. As someone who proudly wears a kippah every single day, I now stand firmly in support of Bill 94 for public schools, because true strength lies in upholding principles that ensure fairness, unity, and the integrity of our shared spaces. Our commitment to secularism is not a betrayal of faith but a defense of a just and equal society.

6/ I should add that despite the aggravation of having to try repeatedly before it worked, I'd rather have these issues to deal with, than be worried about bad actors gaming the system because the security was lax.

IMHO, the issues with verification using Canada Post app, then pairing subsequent numbers between app & the Liberal Party website (link provided via email from LPC to registered voters) was not a "lack of being "tech savvy" issue, as @CharelleEvelyn implied on @RosieBarton Live.

Given this is a $40B project and we have a tax wedge ~30% in Canada, a $35B annual uptick in GDP from this project means it would pay itself back in less than 5 years. This alone is a case for expanding it, and similarly, doing the same for Calgary-Edmonton.
Anita Anand@AnitaAnandMP

Today we’re announcing the biggest infrastructure project in our nation’s history, high speed rail! Reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, it will cut travel times in half and connect key cities in the Toronto-Quebec City corridor. This historic project will create over 51,000 jobs, improve productivity, and boost our GDP by up to $35B annually.
