Trialling dividing year 7 books into colours so at the end of the lesson I can ask for one group to have a quick 10 minute check of their work as part of my feedback and planning process. So far so good!

Double-sided sheets with opportunity to give instant feedback using the mark scheme. Looking forward to using these to make feedback more refined, purposeful and motivational for pupils. 🤞

🌟more sentence work🌟 helping students to generate ideas. Last time, the work they produced gave them loads of confidence which was really motivating. This time I want them to think about a place at different times. Dropbox below 1/3 Credit to @DoWise for the initial idea!

@miss_colbourne Oh my goodness thank you! That is so lovely. I don't think there is a better book on pupil welfare than @Doug_Lemov's "Reconnect", and in terms of general leadership I think the book that made me raise my game the most is still @rpondiscio's "How the Other Half Learns"

Really excited to begin my new position as Associate Assistant Principal for Personal Development. Any excuse to buy some new edu books and I’ve wanted these by @jo_facer for ages - Simplicity Rules is one of my all time favourites. Any other recommendations?

I created this graphic for my students to discuss the importance of effective study strategies in addition to other factors such as pastoral support, attendance & effort. What else would you add? Sleep, exercise, nutrition, monitoring screen time, awareness of distractions ...

I used to often stress the importance of planning before students tackle lit questions, but rarely showed them what effective planning looks like. I now use my 3WS method under the visualiser to break down the question with students. dropbox.com/scl/fo/d8uktpu…

'Recipe Writing' via a dictated-instructive-model answer: I dictate what to use... "Write a 3 word sentence, now a 5, now a 20, now use a semi colon, next use a simile, then ask a question"... Then they write the 'recipe' on the left & can reuse! MEGA PROGRESS. 🙌 #teamenglish

Trialing some new approaches with my wonderful Year 9 class who are writing persuasive speeches. I’ve introduced ‘Pit Stops’ as explicit pauses in the writing process for students to reflect on progress against the success criteria. I have loved it! ❤️✏️✨

@Miss_GJohnston @Team_English1 Film extract has got to be the opening of The Lion King. But I also use this extract which brilliantly covers everything I want students to understand about structure
