@JonathanLigmas @leembroad The problem with that is that it’s not just potential evidence against those involved for internal proceedings; but also much wider criminal proceedings. What is really needed is reinforcement of public trust in conduct proceedings; and then of course in the wider CJS.

@leembroad Releasing bodycam footage immediately for controversial or viral incidents would go a long way. A lot of people seem unaware that three female officers were assaulted as they just saw the response footage

Policing in the UK desperately needs a new response to social media viral feeds/videos. Our traditional methods of response fail both the public appetite for information and our personnel who are forced into the centre of the storm. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it now… but the U.S. critical incident briefing model would be a step in the right direction.

For those angry at the treatment of our justice system from 2010 to 2024, a word of comfort. Not a single one of the 10 justice secretaries from that period is still an MP.

Just been in Newcastle Magistrates Court for the hearing of the men accused of felling the Sycamore Gap tree. The tree is valued at £622,191 by the National Trust, and the judge recommends that “the case is too serious to be heard in magistrates court”. It’s going to Crown Court
