Hate everything the far right stand for, but I’ve worn a thin blue line patch for over a decade… and the symbolism… representing order in chaos and respect to our fallen colleagues… was inspiration for the @The_NPA_UK hopefully, it will be the organisation to carry the badge and honour on.

Sir Mark Rowley has banned the police thin blue line badge, in part because it’s promoted by hard right groups in the force. The persistent flouting of this rule is a worry for us all. bbc.com/news/uk-englan…

Does anyone else see the irony in this? The PFEW fail: Clear Leadership Proper funding Trust and Confidence Purely with the fact they employed the CEO. Reform of representation can only happen with choice. A monopoly of representation leads to failings and corruption.
Police Federation of England and Wales@PFEW_HQ

Reform can’t be for a headline. It has to make policing stronger, and it must pass 5 tests to do so ☑️ If the @ukhomeoffice wants real change, it must start with the officers holding the line every day. 📖 Read the rationale behind each test: polfed.org/news/latest-ne…

@AWilsonmhealth @LeftieMidwife Exactly this - some of the best leaders in policing are constables. They have to lead the public, each other and often senior officers and are not permitted to throw around 'rank' as a part of that leadership philosophy. It's about competence, confidence and dent of influence.

Can you clarify how many National Council meetings you have taken part in where the question or topic of ‘outing/identifying’ @PFEW_Whistle was raised? Did your branch challenge why the focus was on targeting the whistleblower and not on addressing the issues the account was raising? Did your branch question why members of the National Council/National Board feel safer disclosing information to an anonymous account over internal disclosures to the organisations executive? Has your branch considered - given the clear unlawful actions of your own organisations governance and handling of complaints (@mpfchairman and @Rich_Cooke1 JR) - that it/you lack both the moral and professional authority to meaningfully challenge in this area? #BreakTheMonopoly

Deep Gaps in Misconduct Handling and Support for Officers Who Speak Up. Support for those who report or act as witnesses is also widely seen as inadequate. Forty two per cent of officers believe support is poor, and only 12% think it is handled well. polfed.org/news/latest-ne…

The central question remains: amidst sweeping reforms in UK Policing, why does the organisation that is unquestionably the most controversial—with the longest charge sheet of self-made issues, member concerns, and failings—receive a free pass, or even worse, a Government endorsement? #BreakTheMonopoly linkedin.com/pulse/police-f…

@Keyboar24940291 I’m not and never have said it wouldn’t be welcome or isn’t needed, just that it won’t fix the problems within policing and it’s not the panacea to the retention issues we currently have.

@leembroad I’m sure coppers up and down the country would be grateful for a decent pay rise though. You probably won’t win many friends by keep saying a pay rise won’t help.

Brick cop is spot on here, and the reality is that increasing pay won’t fix this. There has to be a fundamental shift in how we approach the service we provide, by first focusing on the welfare and wellbeing of those who deliver it. If you look after your staff, they will look after your business… something many CC’s and senior leaders have long forgotten.

@LucyGoBag It’s the same everywhere. And absolute silence from those responsible. And the man that gutted the Met will now decide how to nationalise Policing. It’s time to leave.

No. It means that others may have cottoned on that throwing members money at un winnable matters does not align with their statutory function or fiduciary responsibilities to utilise membership money only in accordance with the fund rules. Just like receiving reports of poor/illegal behaviours, exiting staff and covering organisational mistakes with wads of cash and NDA’s… eventually the chickens (or in this case the city of London police) will come home to roost.

This from @Geoffrey_Cox was titanic - a truly beautiful speech. He outshone those sat opposite. They could only watch. And nervously laugh. This should be seen by every new MP to understand what they do, & every new barrister to understand what we do.

@englishsportfan @TedHastings25 You can see this in their published accounts. As a ball park 2/3rds of membership subscription is spent on sustaining the organisation with less than 1/3rd spent on the legal services provided to the membership.

A ‘cash strapped’ organisation which rejoiced in saving money by reaching an lower settlement agreement with members it victimised against (members who mainly believed and accepted the financial forecasts provided and did not want to potentially bankrupt the organisation leaving colleagues without support) - sucking funds out of local branches on the guise of financial collapse - whilst rapidly increasing its spending on new executives to feed the bloated beast that is HQ. Still… this is what ‘change’ and ‘reform’ look like… #BreakTheMonopoly

Let’s have a look at what waste looks like shall we? The £100,000k plus club at Leatherhead. Well over 80 per cent of these roles didn’t even exist three years ago before the introduction of a CEO.

While the Police Federation is now under the spotlight and more officers are looking as to whether they should challenge the Government for Union representation and the industrial rights that brings, it appears Senior police leadership might force their arm. Another summer of huge policing demands is approaching and more officers will see their rest days regularly cancelled to fit the demand, it appears Chief Constables are seeking to reduce the pay scales for those officers who will be forced to work on days they should be spending with their families. At the moment officers working on days they should be off are entitled to a minimum of four hours’ compensation at a rate of time and a half, but now those senior officers, in a submission to the Pay review body, are looking to cut costs and want officers renumerated at just time and a third in 15 minute increments. Is this another step backwards, seeing forces, already depleted by resignations, face a surge in those leaving.

We can replicate the things that work and rid ourselves of the things that don’t. Lots of reps (former and still) working with us shaping the NPA to make it work. All have a determination to re position and ensure the organisation remains grounded in and driven by the membership.

@leembroad @PFEW_Whistle I didn’t want the #breakthemonopoly campaign to end up with replacing the Federation. There are many great parts of the Fed that need cherishing, but how do they survive this? The only way is through ignorance of the members. That’s no way to exist.

External pressure is the only way PFEW responds. Just like when Insp Riddell forced them to reveal the grotesque salary by pursuing a complaint via the ICO, PFEW only took steps to suspend the CEO when a leaked National Council recording was due to be reported upon in the Times. A handful of baffled NC members questioned the Chair Tiff Lynch and the Secretary John Partington as to why no action had yet been taken taken. Bizarrely, the pair, supported by the very faithful Treasuer/Baord Member Simon Kempton defended the indefensible, first refusing to confirm the CEO had even been arrested and then proclaiming that as no complaints had been received, they couldn’t take action. @PFEW_Whistle was sent a copy of the recording and released snippets on X over the weekend prompting the Times to reach out and report. When PFEW were approached for comment today, they suddenly took action, presumably to try and take the sting out of the article. So much of a rush, that their own National Board members and regional reps found out like the rest of us… a theee line social media message. I’ve been approached this evening asking how we can mount a vote of no confidence in the national executive… well we can’t. There’s no formal way to record such dissent other then by supporting our Campaign to #BreakTheMonopoly. We already know the Governemt and PFEW are steadfast and locked together in attempting to quash our Judicial Review, so the only way we are going to get any change is through funding it and making change happen. crowdjustice.com/case/breaking-… £5… the cost of a grande latte at a high street coffee shop… that’s all I’m asking for to get this over the line. FIVE POUNDS the same amount every subscribing member has so far contributed to the CEO’s £700k salary and will continue contributing through out his suspension. Come on people… make this happen before we land in Parliament on Wednesday. thetimes.com/uk/crime/artic…
