Exactly, not sure if his fraud counted as a ponzi however the $8-10B hole could have been plugged by the proceeds from selling those early investment stakes and it's possible nobody would have known. Still insane what happened and how reckless/criminal they were with customer funds.

Quite ironic that Sam Bankman-Fried is in prison for 20-25 years for his $8-10 billion FTX fraud... when you consider their seed/venture investment portfolio which included early checks to Anthropic and Cursor would be worth $50+ billion today... however the bankruptcy lawyers sold those stakes at the worst possible time.
