@danspdata @Alden_Gonzalez Olson has been more valuable in a total sense than Freddie since this transaction. Plays every day with comparable hitting production, better defense, and will be playing for several years after Freddie retires. I was always a Freddie stan but lets be real.

Alden that’s a glass half full analysis ! Matt Olson has had 1/1/2 good years with Atlanta - a couple off years - he’s not been as important to his franchise as Freddie Freeman - it was a flawed decision - I want to see how Olson ends up - he’s not a .300 hitter ! He’s a career .249 hitter. But let’s say he’s as valuable as Freeman for NOW ( career leader in hits , second best average of active players ) do you realize Olson was traded for a package - the headliner was a flop in Pache , BUT I could argue Shea Langaliers is having a better year than Olsen hitting .338 , a catcher and with 11 home runs - other assets went in that trade as well! Freeman was a leader of that team , Olson is not.

On March 14, 2022, the Braves traded for 1B Matt Olson and signed him to an 8-year, $168M extension. Two days later, the Dodgers signed Freddie Freeman to a 6-year, $162M free-agent contract. Both have been resounding successes for their current teams. That ... never happens?

@adamscochran Seems kinda silly that rather than condemning the shooter, you’re just chalking it up to “Well, that’s DC. That’s what happens.” You would think this would actually prove the point of why they’re needed there in the first place if you sat and thought about it logically.

That is perhaps the most tragic moment in all this. No matter why this shooting happened, these National Guard members were unnecessarily in DC. Two people, shot dead serving their country, in a line of duty that their Governor’s shouldn’t have placed them in, in the first place!

@BeaneaterB Combine this with the conflicting plan and result from last offseason and I think you really have to call into question just how in control Alex really is. Disappointed is a bit of an understatement given what we had heard recently.

I like Walt Weiss. I really do. He was maybe the 6th or 7th option for me to be manager. Early on I believed he would be the guy. But as the process went on it became apparent that Alex probably wanted something else. To say this is a confusing hire is an understatement. To me, it feels like the powers that be influenced this hire a lot. I have questions about what is going on in the front office at this point. Very perplexing hire.
