Look, I love Spider-Man TAS for what it is, and it's willingness to strive to do more then a lot of comic book shows ever tried. But my God is it bad. Like, if this show had a budget, it would be remembered on the same level as X-Men and Batman TAS

I'm sorry you hated the 2010's, but X-Men didn't even fully go away then either. They got left out of two video games, then after what? After 2017, they were back in everything again. And X-Men fans still act like they need to recover from decades of humiliation.

According to Jhonen she was never intended to be goth, so I think her reading as such was a product of him being a massive edgelord at the time. In general Jhonen is clearly embarassed by the goth fanbase he acquired with his old work, which I can't blame him for doing so
