A 26-year-old student sends a message to his teacher to explain that he will be absent from the course because he has not found anyone to keep his five-month-old daughter. Nathan Alexander, 34, a math professor at Morehouse College (Atlanta) responds to his student by saying: "If that's the problem, bring her to class." Upon arriving in the classroom, the teacher offered to take the child so that his student could devote himself entirely to the course. The teacher held the child throughout the lesson and even after, when he answered the students questions.

At just 19 years old, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stepped more fully into his calling when he was ordained and appointed associate minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta on February 25, 1948. Ordained by his father, Martin Luther King, Sr., he embraced a ministry that would grow far beyond the church walls. That early commitment to faith, justice, and disciplined love became the foundation for a movement that transformed a nation.
