Having Zoom calls all day is getting tiring. I feel like companies should just spend the money renting a "IRL meeting room” - so people can drive to a location and have those meetings around a table. Maybe even could do multiple rooms. Anyone doing this?

So, about Threads:

Silo is really a 10-episode ad for Apple Vision Pro.

They've spent 15 years getting zillions of people to carry among the best compact cameras everywhere they go, and still managed to build a privacy brand. This is on-brand for them.

Welp, that was not what I expected.

They're not willing to show what you look like on FaceTime wearing this thing...

@adamnash Could be, but that sweet magsafe stand might make a dent. I put one on my monitor for all my at-desk calling and have been 90% happy with it. Pretty low friction to just pop it on there and charge while using the best camera I own. But couch to TV distances are higher, for sure!

@mjacksonw … I’m skeptical that anything that requires adding / removing a peripheral each time will get regular usage. Privacy / security concerns are very real with cameras in the home, but feels like video calling (and maybe shared viewing) could be the killer app.

@adamnash And I love love zoom rooms. Just would rather use continuity camera and an Apple TV than most other manufacturers' cams built into the TV.

@mjacksonw … it’s just so useful in the workplace. Zoom rooms mostly just work. Hard to believe it won’t make its way into the home.

Apple keynotes are one of the times I feel like a [geeky] 12 year old kid again. Like, just imagining a world where I have a Mac Studio on my desk with an M2 Ultra with 192GB of RAM and six friggin' displays, sorting how many weeks of paper route it'd take to get there.
