I am incredibly honored to share that I have received the 2024 NIH Director’s Award as part of the NIH COVID-19 Autopsy Team. This award was presented to us in recognition of the discovery of SARS-CoV-2 infection and persistence throughout the human body and brain at autopsy.

I am truly honored and grateful to receive the 2024 @OUTinSTEM Advisor of the Year Award. This honor is not solely mine; it belongs to the current and past members of the @UTSW_ostem at @UTSWGradSchool, whose efforts continue to guide us forward. Thank you! @UTSWMedCenter

Setting up this lab space the way I envisioned took some time, but I hope my lab is always a space of curiosity, discovery, and inspiration for everyone who trains here, where we can grow together and, in the process, make the world a better place. 💙

Al leer la columna de mi amigo, compueblano, colega y también egresado de @UPRHComunica el @dr_mjramos en @ElNuevoDia, me llené de alegría. Es reconfortante ver como un #científico con propósito como 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐬 encontró razones para #perseverar. El camino no es sencillo, especialmente en nuestra #Isla. It took some time, but now we have the patent. I did this work between 2014-2018, while I was a PhD student at the UPR. I will be forever indebted with my mentor, Dr. Espino for trusting me from the beginning and helping me in my development as a scientist.

Two things I hope my trainees take away from their time with me is to stay humble and driven, knowing that a career in science transcends personal accomplishments. That their effort should be driven by the conviction that knowledge has the power to change the world.
