@eaconner Solomon should be focused on trying to help businesses open in less than 2 years. No business wants to pay rent on a space they can’t make revenue on because the city can’t overhaul the permitting process. Watch retail vacancies continue to rise under him

@necs @eaconner This is not an issue that majority of residents in JC need our leadership wasting their time on. Pathetic.

@eaconner The mayor isn't saying the development is a problem, the fact that a historic business is being pushed out is the problem. He said he wants to work with developers to find a solution.

Our new NIMBY mayor’s whole political philosophy is spineless pandering. This development is not a “problem.” It is bringing 800 homes and a much-needed grocery store. The beloved Boulevard Drinks plans to move to a new space much like Ercalano’s did. Strong businesses adapt.

@eaconner Amateur hour from the same team that wants to make it easier to hold parades than build housing.

This also isn't a problem that should involve the mayor's office. A business should be able to find a new location and negotiate a lease without the mayor getting involved. And yet here is Jersey City's official spokesman...

@eaconner I bet this council would be happy to sponsor a bill that requires the developer to put up a plaque on the new building acknowledging it was built on the ancestral homeland and unceded territory of hot dogs and onion rings.

The next phase of progressive NIMBYism in northeastern cities is going to be land acknowledgements but for local businesses that don't know how leases work.

@CJGriffinEsq They claimed there were no such records that exist. But the billboard didn’t say it was paid by a campaign as required by law. So I’m fairly certain this was city funds. Probably need to write a better OPRA request so the city can’t find a way out of it.

I have a feeling we're going to keep learning about shady stuff that happened during Fulop's tenure. Solomon isn't going to cover the last administration's secrets the way so many leaders do. Hopefully he fixes JC's OPRA dept so the public/press can play a role in exposing it!

@eaconner Purple line is an MTA Maryland project, not WMATA. But yes WMATA has made significant improvements by investing in service and state of good repair.

I am frankly envious of how well mass transit works in the Washington, D.C. metro. Not only has WMATA increased its ridership by running more trains, but WMATA and other transit authorities like the MTA are investing in new rail lines. If only PATH and NJT could do the same...

The new Spring St bridge sub structure is now complete, the @PurpleLineMD rail bed is in the final grading (C) phase and the 16th street station (R) has its canopies. #bikeDC #PurpleLineMD #purplelineprogress #CCTrail #LightRail @purplelinenow @WABADC
