A recent preprint from our lab is a modification of the @illumina COVIDSeq assay for SARS-CoV-2 genome sequencing, this assay could benefit from optimization for smaller throughput Illumina benchtop types of equipment for smaller batch sizes. Available at: osf.io/6e5cw/

Publication out from @vinodscaria @SridharSivasub3 and CSIR group in India using Illumina COVIDSeq to sequence 200 samples from patients in Kerala region of India. They were able to identify new variants and uncover unique patterns of transmission. #SM7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…

I'm going to disagree. Things don't just work because scientists work hard and show up every day. There is a huge component of luck and timing of convergence of multiple technologies at just the right time. The hard work is necessary but so is the timing/luck (miracle).

Joe Biden keeps saying that the vaccine is a "miracle of science". But there's no "miracle" to science, just many thousands of scientists showing up to work day in day out, taking little baby steps, failing again & again but keeping at it, bravely tackling the mysteries of nature

For the 1st time, Officially Reviewed 2 research articles. 1st paper got summarily rejected in initial review, potentially due to unrealistic claims with limited data and overlooking other observations. 2nd paper is finally accepted with 2 revisions in 3 months. #Reviewer
