@politicalmath Yes - you also feel sick to your stomach when you eat. The problem is, you're not just losing weight, you're starving. The body doesn't care where the calorie deficient is made up, but it tends to start at easiest first, breaking down muscle, then fat, then organs.

Kid Cudi recently canceled an Alabama show and, refreshingly, admitted the reason was low ticket sales. The bigger story here, IMO, is the lack of venue options for artists in non-major markets. Birmingham only has three (!) mid-size venues. Makes show booking very challenging.

@cirrus_oxide Sure you can pay less, but it's gonna sound like you recorded it for less than $100 and a couple of twelve packs. Save money, you can record economically and fund your mastering more than you would expect or send it to Discmasters to handle like a lot of bands. Don't cheap out

Pretty wild that mastering an album for my first band in the late 90s cost $500, which was the going rate for small indie label projects. Somehow, not only has that rate flatlined for the past 30 years, but there is often an expectation for it to cost quite a bit less.

@upstatefederlst In the early 80's, my mom and grandma regularly took me along to see $1 movies in an old theater showing movies like Easter Parade and Casablanca. Also when VHS cassettes were new, they would have dozens of cheap videos under $5 of movies from the 30's-50's. We purchased many.
