@ww1cemeteries My friend, I’m not trying to start a fight or be jerk. I’m just trying to present some corrective context. Your original posts language is suggesting that the memorial is for the Canadians who died at Vimy, which it is not. Have you been there? I have. Twice.

@TheCinesthetic Went to see this with my brother and dad in the theater and we were the only people laughing our asses off to the whole thing.

Starship Troopers (1997) was dismissed at release for playing it straight, but Verhoeven stages the whole thing like propaganda, exaggerated, glossy, and just off enough that the satire on militarism is the point.

My grandad was at the Somme, in the Canadian army. I don’t know if he was shot on the first day, but he was shot in his arm & leg and lay in a mud puddle for 3 days till the German Red Cross both rescued and took him prisoner. Douglas Haig has to be a strong candidate for worst general ever.

All of the cool kids are donating gas station gift cards to TSA and dropping them at the desk of the supervisor (which is at the end of every TSA check point) on their way to their gate. I even heard of some really cool kids giving as many $20 gas station gift cards as they can to the same place.
