@eugyppius1 i mean, yeah, but with a German twist. us Anglo-Americans do sometimes realizes that that rules should be ignored. you all have a harder time with that. so you've actually dialed your extensive training up to 11, so to speak.

i try not to say this because it alienates friends, but the truth is that we Germans have been force-fed from the Anglo-American firehose of freedom since 80 years now, & our present leaders with their political repressions are merely acting out their extensive training.
Carl Benjamin 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@Sargon_of_Akkad

Germans didn't invent freedom. You people revile freedom. You love conformity, obedience, and regularity. This is the opposite of freedom, and bullshitting yourselves into believing otherwise is typical German self-delusion.

@MaineFrameworks Secret societies series is more schizo tier, he eventually lost me there, and I also do not care for geopolitical prediction interviews he seems to do now.

@ml39118987 For example, he teaches that psychopathy is the same as dissociation. It's deeply wrong, but it compresses an already-viral conspiracy account involving psychopaths for the dumbs. Much of his work can be characterized this way. The intuition you need is to run away.

@MaineFrameworks The chinese education system is extremely formalized with student questions entirely desincentivized (youtube.com/watch?v=IRnhBw…), he's the polar opposite of that attitude. It's Shock therapy. I generally preferred his older, more solid content on civilisations.

@MaineFrameworks He explores (often wrong) ideas publicly to shift that needle. We need that energy to push the Overton window. Too many "theories" have turned out true lately. I do agree that it is weird to teach this to highschoolers.

@MaineFrameworks Conspiracy theory is weaponized to suppress thought as well. You think he must be 100% factual to speak, but if we only talk about what’s "100% figured out," we’d say nothing. Society draws the line at 99% he draws it close to 50. The truth is in the middle.

@MaineFrameworks Haven't seen his recent vids, but watched everything prior. Seems he turned more schizo recently. His use of language is often unfortunate because it comes off very authoritarian, but he often disclaimers to his students "my own personal theories are "out there", question them"

@MaineFrameworks He is not a rationalist. He follows his intuitions. He notices things which are off in the world intuitively, and then looks for rational explanations. Those are often wrong, but his intuition that something was wrong is pretty much always right.

@ml39118987 (Sorry I jumbled this a bit. Either he know evolutionists teach *against* teleology and work hard at it and is saying the opposite anyway, or he knows less than 101 level material on the subject. Either way it's grim.)

@ml39118987 No he's more wrong than right. We know literally everything about Microsoft's founding including the attitudes of the individual players in all the major contracts. It was not a government conspiracy.

@keysmashbandit I once read mao tse tung's theory of guerrilla warfare after handing in an exam when the teachers wouldn't let us leave early. Earned me a headshake from a teacher who came over to inspect the book title. Decent read and I aced the exam 🤷‍♂️

Now, I have been known to read a risky historical book or two on public transit, but I do think one would be forgiven for thinking it's at least A LITTLE performative to crack the spine on a Mein Kampf paperback during rush hour....

I was told rust is woke but every time I see a rust developer he is either the gayest person i have ever seen or Adolf Hitler's top guy. Granted some of you might note that there's no difference between the two. And you're sometimes right.

I actually live in a small English village. It’s total codswallop what @elonmusk is saying. We’re not “hobbits under siege” we’re ordinary people - how rude to patronise us like this. It’s fear-mongering dressed up as folklore.

Knitting is one of the worst things I know how to do, extremely slow and boring hobby, nobody ever wears the shit you make even if it's amazing, you don't know how anything's gonna look until you've already spent 60+ hours on it, gives you tech neck, just literally no upsides

@_Stocko_ If the belt goes at an angle that changes when translating, total belt length changes which requires a tensioner to compensate it and complicates figuring out where your axis is. I would add a pulley top left to straighten it. Also these might be a shout: aliexpress.com/item/100500516…
