@penuelist_ What’s a difference between a deadbeat vs “giving away a child for adoption”? It’s not like you leaving a child in the street to die, you giving the mother the child full custody and responsibilities. If they also don’t want the child, give it out to others for adoption as well.

You cannot be pro-abortion, but have an issue with people who choose to be deadbeats. Being a deadbeat is a form of abortion, affected by timing only.

A team of police officers is growing frustrated as they wait for SARS Customs and Excise officials to scan a piece of equipment suspected of containing drugs. A narcotics dog flagged the item, and police officers from the Durban Metro Police and Hawks were called in to a local shipping company. The hydraulic part was then transported to Pier 1 at Bayhead Road. But now they allege Customs officials refuse to turn on the scanner to verify their suspicions, despite several requests to staff and managers. The part is due to be shipped to Mauritius. They were told a CAS number is required, not the Hawks enquiry number they produced. Is this the standard procedure, @sarstax, or is there a deviation here? With the huge public outcry over drugs, it is important to understand how suspicious items are handled.

Yeah, we’re definitely talking past each other. I’m not disputing the genetics at all….. we agree the sperm carries the variation (X or Y). My point is more about how it’s phrased in general conversation. When people say ‘the man determines the sex,’ it sounds like the man has direct control or responsibility, which isn’t really accurate. It’s more precise to say it’s the sperm cells that determine the outcome, not the man himself as an agent (stop dragging the word “guy”). At the end of the day, both of us are just biological systems playing out a process we don’t consciously control….. we’re both vessels in that sense lol.

We’re talking past each other. Biologically, the sperm does determine the sex because it’s the only one bringing variation hence I said guy and sperm in brackets. Yes the guy isn’t the only one responsible but the source of that variation is still the sperm. The egg doesn’t have a say when fertilization takes place because it’s always X.

UPDATE | This is the feedback from @sarstax - posting verbatim. Incident with regards to SAPS and Metro Police at the SARS Durban Cargo Scanner. At about 11:20 what is reported to be members from SAPS and Metro Police service arrived at the scanner site. They were 11 x members in total who arrived at the Scanner site. All were dressed in private clothes and no one was dressed in their respective departments uniform. None of them produced any formal identification. The vehicles they used were all unmarked vehicles. They demanded that the items which they brought with them (being two steel hydraulic tubes) be scanned. The Customs official on duty advised them that the container cannot be scanned without a Formal SARS Case Number based on SARS Internal governance requirements. (the standard requirement for any scan is a SARS Case number which must have the supporting documents (ie: Shipping Documents that describes the potential contents). At 11h47 a call was received from Warrant Officer Mhlongo. He requested assistance for items to be scanned. He advised that it is some hydraulic part which their dogs reacted to potential drugs which is to be exported. The question was asked if this is containerised cargo or breakbulk, to which the response was that they are on the back of a bakkie. He requested to forward photos of the items and any Shipping documents which they might have. At around 11h58 Mr Mhlongo forward the documents to me via WhatsApp. Promised to forward it via email later. The documents and pictures were handed over to the Durban Customs JOC (Joint Operations Centre – Risk Unit) who created an official SARS Case and allocated the Case to the Durban Scanner Unit. (as per Internal Governance Processes) The SARS Manual Case Creation – MCC was created which is then automated and linked to the SARS System. This is how SARS usually assists OGA’s nationally. The Durban Scanner team informed the SAPS Team about the scanned image outcome. The report on X was incorrect in his media report and should have allowed SARS to respond first before releasing an incorrect version and suspect image. If this was narcotic this would have compromised both SAPS and SARS officials. No anomalies were detected with the primary scan.

lol I know. I was just rejecting that part of ur statement “a guy(sperm) is responsible in determining the sex”. My argument is that a guy and sperm must be separated. A guy supply sperm with X and Y chromosomes. Both options. What happens isn’t determined per say by the “guy”. The egg has a 50/50 chance of being fertilised by either. The women isn’t responsible for pre-fertilisation factors that might contribute. It’s just happens nje

@mlamuli_jeff You’re arguing pre-fertilization factors, I’m talking post-fertilization outcomes. That’s what the conversation was about. Identical twins.😅

Lol Jeff, you are mixing concepts. The egg is always X chromosome while sperm can either carry X or Y chromosome. So the sperm determines the sex (XX for female, XY for male). Keep in mind the first X in either is ALWAYS from the egg. There is no reliable mechanism where the female body selectively rejects Y bearing sperm. Sperm competition is more about speed, timing, and environment, not conscious “selection”. The argument was not about that though.

Yeah I agree with you on the genetics part …. sperm determines the chromosome outcome. My point wasn’t that the female body consciously selects X or Y, but that the reproductive environment can influence which sperm actually makes it. So it’s not selection by intent, but there is still some biological filtering before fertilization. At the end of the day, a woman nor a man decides the overall outcome of the sex if you counter all the factors.

Oh @NalediChirwa ….Point missed!! Every functioning state regulates entry based on capacity and economic reality. South Africa cannot be the exception. You don’t just settle anywhere in the world. Countries tie immigration to clear conditions , skills, scarce sectors, or strictly defined refugee protections. So what policy logic is being applied here? We are not against documentation. But to present it as a solution especially under the claim that it will help track criminals….is fundamentally flawed. Illegal immigration is not just a criminal issue. It is an economic and systemic issue. You cannot document and absorb more people into an economy that is already failing South Africans. Documentation does not create jobs. It does not fix service delivery. It does not resolve structural unemployment. Until South Africa stabilises unemployment, restores service delivery, and rebuilds economic access, expanding the system only deepens pressure on those already left behind. This is not about opposing reform , it is about demanding policy that actually responds to the scale of the problem. Fix the state. Apply rational immigration policy. Prioritise South Africans. That is how serious countries operate. Stop fooling people and yourselves EFF.

Political education is really needed in South Africa😔The best thing my platforms have done for me is to provide political education especially Tik Tok. I still have a long way to go in terms of learning but damn I'm so grateful to the Fighters who educate us daily kweza lives.. I know most people think social media is a waste of time but it has really helped me understand a lot of things. Having conversations with Fighters has encouraged me to read and has challenged me to try and learn more. I was never a History student even in Varsity I did Maths & Physics so you can imagine ngiyazonqenela nje ufunda. So as someone who does not have much experience in politics, I think we should never undermine political education it is very important to have sober voters. Who are not influenced by influencers who have no clue what happens in the political arena.. influencers who complain that media reports negative about them but when they want push propaganda they use the same media as reference.. Lets push political education in a fun way that accommodates everybody like we do kwi lives, where we leave no one behind..
