The four Dems most imperiled by this proposal: #FL09 Darren Soto (D) #FL14 Kathy Castor (D) #FL23 Jared Moskowitz (D) #FL25 Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) The riskiest play? Targeting Castor, b/c surrounding Tampa Bay GOP seats would be absorbing many of her Dem voters.

Tonight is a good night to repeat what I said last August when Texas started this mid-cycle redistricting chain reaction. Politics has to be more than a power grab. By either party. There have to be rules that everyone follows. Otherwise, it’s all about power and pretty soon there won’t be much left that holds our nation together.
Ari Fleischer@AriFleischer

I want to win 5 more seats in the House. But mid-census change in Texas is not the way to do it. Even politics must have rules. Gerrymandering should be done once every ten years - by all states. Otherwise, there are no rules and it’s the equivalent of all- out, political wars all the time - simply to gain power. No state should gerrymander until 2032, including Texas. It’s fair to everyone this way. Even politics should be conducted in a fair manner.

To my eye, Dems have definitively taken the lead in the mid-decade redistricting battle for this cycle. 🔵 Ds will likely gain 8-10 seats 🔴 Rs will likely gain 4-8 seats And it seems like an awfully big risk for FL to further redraw its map given the swings we’re seeing in special elections.

Stick a fork in it. Virginia has voted to redraw its congressional district map through 2030 & Dems will likely flip four seats in November. In this environment: VA-01 (Harris +7) 🔵 Safe D VA-02 (Harris +5) 🔵 Likely D VA-05 (Harris +9) 🔵 Safe D VA-06 (Harris +3) 🔵 Likely D

It’s 1783: a room full of officers on the brink of revolt. George Washington tried to calm them—but it wasn’t his speech that changed things. He paused, put on his glasses, and said:
“I have grown not only gray, but almost blind in the service of my country.” The room shifted. Trust returned. People don’t connect often with polished words.
 They connect with authenticity.

Great Read I recommend: Dewey Defeats Truman by A. J. Baime. In 1948, Newsweek declared: “50 Political Experts Predict a GOP Sweep.” Everyone was certain Thomas E. Dewey would beat Harry S. Truman. Then Truman won. The lesson: ignore the noise, focus on what you control, and let execution beat consensus. Fantastic read on leadership, grit, and how often experts get the future wrong.

“All this territory that was claimed is up for grabs,” the consultant said. “If polls come out showing Steyer picks up what Swalwell left on the floor, there’s going to be a rush to him.” politico.com/news/2026/04/1…

‘The Cook Political Report is shifting its ratings of four crucial Senate races toward Democrats, in the latest sign of the party’s growing momentum. Georgia and North Carolina have both moved out of toss-up status to lean Democratic, CPR’s Jessica Taylor writes. Ohio shuttles from leaning Republican squarely into toss-up territory. And she sees Nebraska coming on the competitive board, now classified as likely instead of solid Republican. But but but: Taylor still sees Republicans as favorites to hold the Senate, with Dems likely to net between one and three additional seats — but not the four they need.’ Politico playbook

The FIRST and most IMPORTANT ask from @jfederations : “Increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) to $1 billion and allocate previously appropriated funds for awaiting applicants.” Community institutions and families bearing the financial burden of safety and security can no longer be the norm. Government must step up and act.

I think this doesn’t take into account Nadler (Lasher) and Maloney’s (Bores) ground operations. Nadler demonstrated that strength years ago in the primary with Maloney and Maloney did last year with her daughter winning in the Council.

This is the kind of self-preservation politics that voters despise. He’s been redistricted out of his seat so… he: A. Switches to Independent B. Still caucuses with the Republicans C. Does/says whatever it takes to survive…

NEWS: Kiley says he's leaving the GOP and becoming an Independent IMMEDIATELY "Today, I'm asking the clerk of the US House of Representatives to have that reflected in the official roster," he said. He'll caucus with the GOP

If AI blurs what’s real - especially in an election year - and enforcement remains unclear, the problem isn’t the vote. It’s whether voters can trust the information shaping their decisions. Legislators/regulators have to wrestle with this as time ticks down to elections.

38 states have already passed laws regulating AI.
The rest are drafting legislation. That’s astonishing speed for government — and it tells you how disruptive AI already feels.

This feels eerily similar to the early days of social media regulation. Lots of urgency.
 Lots of legislation.
Very little clarity on enforcement. We’re STILL sorting that out.

Are platforms expected to self-regulate?
 Are AI companies?
Is there some kind of AI enforcement mechanism already in place? Because if there is, no one’s explained it very clearly.
