1) We're talking about the @LandmarkSociety's "Five to Revive" for 2024. The list was revealed this morning. I'll post photos of the sites in order of when they come up in the show. All photos and quoted text from the Landmark Society.

5) Next, the Vacuum Oil Site. Mayor Malik Evans says for the first time ever, the 18-acre site is close to being cleaned up and turned back to community use.

3) In August, Kalifa was in Hawaii covering the wildfires. "It requires a sensitivity to visualize the experience of those individuals and make it relatable. For me, the camera is a powerful tool for empathy."

1) Our guests this hour are photojournalist Tamir Kalifa and former journalist Kimberly Rubio. Rubio's daughter, Lexi, was killed in the Robb Elementary School shooting. They are discussing the power of storytelling through photojournalism.

2) Rubio on Kalifa and other members of the media covering the shooting: "The way that they came in here and approached us, leading with their hearts...that is something that should be taken to every tragedy." (One of Kalifa's photos is below.)

Today on Connections at 1:00, we talk about the history behind hundreds of unmarked graves in Mt. Hope Cemetery and Highland Park. A new memorial will honor the lives of these people; many were residents of the Monroe County Almshouse, Penitentiary and Insane Asylum in the 1800s.
