The bottleneck in coding is now the time it takes a human to review agent-generated code. But existing review UIs don't work well for agents. So we built a new one into Amp.

@kwuwon :) We also have a Sourcegraph MCP server you can leverage but we built the Librarian to be independent so people don't need to sign up for anything extra to use.

@mmanela If only there was some alternative code search service. Perhaps it could maintain some Graph-like structure of the Source so it could perform queries like this... 🤔

Meet Amp's newest tool: The Librarian. Your cross-repo search assistant. The Librarian makes it easy to get clear and comprehensive answers to questions spanning beyond your current repo.

@kwuwon Due to GH API limitations, we only search the default branches of repos

@mmanela Does it read the correct version of the code or always the HEAD state?

One of my favorite parts is that along with the answer the Librarian provides a bibliography (yes, we are leaning into the name) with all the sources that contributed to the answer. I often use these as jumping off points to learn more.

One place it excels at is asking how a dependency works under the covers. For example, I asked how SvelteKit routing works and it figured out the right repo on GitHub and gave a detailed breakdown of its routing implementation.

@stevelizcano Great question. In this initial version it does not save the state but that is an area we are looking at for the future to be able to refer to an existing answer to re-use in future questions.

@mmanela does it save "state" of libraries we frequently use or reference? for example I readily consult the mediabunny documentation/repo since it's so new. should I reference the gh link each time?

@mathemagic1an @mahirb22 @WorkOS @sqs The AI operates independently of ad placement. It’s focused entirely on solving the problem you prompt. Separately, ads are selected based on your codebase context — but they don’t influence the AI’s output.
