We hosted a public event with Professor Steven Friedman today. It became clear that journalism failed in its reporting of the Roedean/King David debacle. @AdriaanBasson @SABCNews, @NewsroomAfrika @EnCA Use the many knowledgeable Jewish voices out there, media experts, and Profs.

@Nespresso your online payment gateway is not working in South Africa. Very buggy. If you don’t want our money that’s understandable but I’m sure you do!

The Economist editor-in-chief presses Netanyahu on why Israel won’t allow foreign journalists to independently enter Gaza. He deflects, citing “safety.” They dismiss his excuse, referencing how many journalists have already been killed in Gaza. The Economist of all places.

I reject the label “diaspora Jew.” SA is my home. I'm a South African Jew. The language of “diaspora” assumes a political homeland elsewhere & frames those who don't live there as living away from home. I don't accept that premise. Israel is not my home & doesn't act in my name

So here is my answer: @GovernmentZA @DIRCO must already know Bozell's record of supporting apartheid in the 80s, labelling anti apartheid activists as terrorists and criticizing Nelson Mandela's stature. It is also a matter of public record that his son, Leo IV  was convicted and sentenced for multiple felonies related to the attack on the Capitol on January 6th 2021. He received a full pardon from Trump in 2025. The Ambassador designate is unequivocally pro Israel and has spoken publicly about his mission to RSA: promoting Israel AND influencing other domestic policies, which he has criticized 🙄. SA Ambassador was expelled for far less. And Special Envoy ghosted for far less. So will RSA exercise its sovereign right and refuse agrément to Bozell? I SUSPECT NOT. Why? 1) It is generally not SA's foreign policy culture to be combative and aggressive. 2) RSA may believe it is more prudent to de-escalate tensions with the USA and accept him. PROBLEM: NOTHING RSA does can de-escalate tensions. It has become US policy on RSA, to keep tensions high. 3) RSA may implement a strategy of allowing Bozell but freezing him out once he is in SA. This will be ineffective. Why? BECAUSE HE IS NOT COMING TO RSA TO STRENGTHEN RELATIONS WITH THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT. Their consultants are telling them that the ANC will lose power in 2029. Bozell doesn't need @GovernmentZA @CyrilRamaphosa or @DIRCO_ZA to establish relationships with other parties who will take a Pro-Israel stance. His mission IS about dismantling SA's foreign policy on Israel. His mission is to create pathways to the White House and Israel for other parties. Expect to see more SA MPs traveling to Israel; More Dalinyebos being courted, more Christians declaring loyalty Israel; More October 7th Commemorations in townships. Once you use this lens, the Israeli flag that you see at Gayton McKenzie's political party event, will make sense. That's the mission.

@RediTlhabi I'm all for this diplomatic restraint that we've shown, and for good reason. However, the gloves are off, and this chap's mandate is clearly against our national objectives. Perhaps it's time that @CyrilRamaphosa and @RonaldLamola exercise their prerogative to reject this guy?🤔

NO #BoxingDay Test Match in South Africa this year…🥲🥲😡 Going to seem very strange - and hope @ICC @ProteasMenCSA that this will not always be the case, but just this year due to the world cricket schedules…and upcoming T20 World Cup. INTERESTINGLY = The history of South Africa's Boxing Day Test traces back to 1913, with a match against England in Johannesburg.! The tradition became more established after South Africa's return to international cricket in the early 1990s, with the 1992 match against India being a notable milestone. In 2012, an attempt was made to replace the Test Cricket with a T20l format, but it was unsuccessful - and in 2020, the Boxing Test match against Sri Lanka was notably played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 precautions. Also, on several occasions South Africa has played in Australia's annual Boxing Day Test as the touring side - on such occasions no Boxing Day Test match was understandably held in South Africa.

I’ve analysed Independent Media’s appeal to the Competition Tribunal. The appeal seeks to alter the eligibility criteria governing access to funding under the Media and Digital Platforms Market Inquiry (MDPMI) framework. Full analysis below. Link is in the first comment.
