A year ago I was making $200/month at a design studio. The work was mediocre. My ideas got rejected for being "too bold." I spent nights browsing awwwards trying to understand why their work looked nothing like what I was making 9 to 5. I quit in February 2025. Started posting on X in May. By August I closed $6,000 in two weeks - two landing pages, design only. My personal record at the time. Now I design and build websites for companies working with RedBull, Marvel, and L'Oréal. Nothing magic happened. I just stopped: - taking projects that paid $300 and came with 47 revision rounds - working without contracts and prepayment - treating design as a side hustle The $200/month version of me had the same skills. Just no boundaries and no audience.

He's right but the problem started way before AI. Designers were copy pasting Dribbble shots and calling it "custom design" for years. AI didn't kill originality. It just made the lack of it more obvious.

That’s why the first idea is usually just a draft ✍️ It can point you in the right direction, but it still needs refinement to really come together ✨ Version 1 is rarely the final answer 👀
