A 40-year-old Ghanaian man was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after being flagged on the Movement Control System in connection with a South African Police Service Linden fraud case.
He allegedly defrauded South African Revenue Service by submitting fraudulent tax returns in 2017, causing losses of over R350,000.
He is expected to appear in Palmridge Commercial Crime Court on Monday.

BREAKING NEWS: Foreign national electrocuted in Mamelodi West
A foreign national was electrocuted while allegedly tampering with an electrical transformer in Mamelodi West, Tshwane, on 30 April 2026. He died at the scene after coming into contact with live infrastructure.
Police are investigating.

Public Order Policing officers arrested a 44-year-old Zimbabwean national in Bellville, Cape Town, today after allegedly being caught selling controlled and scheduled medicine. Police found 27 bottles of cough mixture and cash in his possession during crime prevention patrols.
He is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on 4 May 2026.

The TMPD Cable Theft Unit arrested a Mozambican national in Hercules, Pretoria, after tracking a white Toyota bakkie suspected of transporting stolen copper.
Officers found two large bags of burnt copper cables at a scrapyard, which the suspect could not explain.
He allegedly assaulted an officer during the arrest and now faces charges including possession of suspected stolen copper, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
