Game Pass Ultimate has become too expensive for too many players. Starting today, we’re dropping the price from $29.99 to $22.99/month. Future Call of Duty titles will no longer join Game Pass Ultimate on day one. They will join this tier the following holiday after launch (about a year later). Current Call of Duty titles will remain available to Ultimate subscribers. We’ll keep learning and evolving Game Pass to better match what matters to players. xbx.lv/4cWO9hR

@clashreport Not sure Italy would be against it if push comes to shove. Meloni, contrasting with Merz, has shown she has the balls to criticize the Israeli regime. There just needs to be more people willing to push the issue like Sanchez, and the rest of the pieces will fall into place.

Spain wants to suspend the EU–Israel agreement, accusing Israel of breaking international law. But the plan is likely to fail because “there is no broad consensus among the member states.” Key countries like Germany and Italy oppose it, stressing a “serious and balanced approach.” Even partial measures are stuck because the EU is deeply divided. Massive victory for Mercedes in the mitigations to the 2026 regulations. Not surprising, given how closely in bed with the FiA and FOM they are from an economic powerhouse standpoint, as a huge helper in formulating the regs and now having an economic stranglehold as PU supplier for 4 teams. They’ve managed to avoid a big reduction in the recharge limit, while advancing their internal combustion engine advantage by increasing the super clipping recharge rate, and they solve their launch problems with emergency MGU – K deployment if they struggle to get off the line. Now they’ve launched a political campaign to lobby for limitations on the accessibility of ADUO, claiming that only Honda should qualify for anything. And you know what? Given what Mercedes controls, they may get their way. At this point, this feels a bit like formula Mercedes.

@the_zb_ Seeing as HPP will supply less teams going forward, surely their influence diminishes in the future. I don't see the point of FOM sailing a sinking ship for the sake of 4 teams when the whole 11 team operation could take a massive valuation hit if the sport loses its flavour.

Ferrari will never be in the kind of position Mercedes are in. They have longstanding enemies within the sport, and there was plenty of “never again with Ferrari” after the 2000-2004 era. Clandestine last minute major reg overhauls for 2005 that targeted a Ferrari advantage? Yeah, ok… keep it subtle, FiA. 🤣 There was a massive economic and political push to bring such a massive manufacturer like Mercedes into the sport as a works operation, and they’ve been running things economically ever since. They are the anti-Ferrari, in essence. The “newcomer” with an equally massive purse, that nobody had any grudges against, with massive political sails in order to enter with controversial 2014 power units designed for their liking, and methodically creating a structure within the sport thereafter that confirms their status as ahead of the blue bloods and long-timers. This type of environment was ripe for the licking in the new era of F1 management, whether you liked the old guard or not. It’s fascinating to see it play out, and the new regs have in essence been a repeat, with their influence on the design of the 2026 regs helping them rebound from their insurmountable design failures and driver woes from Ground Effect. Their economic influence as a 4-team PU supplier means that anything that hinders Mercedes as a PU maker, hinders the brand/advertising/franchise valuation of 4 of the 11 teams. That’s never going to be allowed to happen, ever again. It is what it is. It’s not overtly complex to see if you take a glance.

@theMadridZone @JLSanchez78 Realistically your only option is Mourinho if all of those are hardlines. Options include Klopp (the dressing room will hate him), Maresca (not a horrible shout), Juanma Lillo, Joachim Low and Ruben Amorim. Deschamps is just an extension of the Dictator, and Zidane is NT-bound.

@the_zb_ They've pissed all over the spirit of the sport. Formula 1 will regain its soul when it dumps the complex electrics, returns to KERS+N/A V8 or V10 (reach), and stops being so anti-innovation with technical directives.

This is something, but it still feels kind of an inadequate mitigation. 1. Reduction to 7MJ is not quite enough, and will not solve the energy problems especially on energy starved tracks. It doesn’t help the qualifying situation, it’s not aggressive enough. 6MJ would’ve likely helped this a lot more. 2. Increase in super clipping is sensible if you want to keep super clipping, but it doesn’t dissuade super clipping enough IMO… it’s treating it as a viable solution to harvesting, whereas I would aim to do everything possible to minimize it with a new energy balance, rather than making it more effective. But keeping the recharge limit so high means you’re hamstrung and must still have prevalent super clipping. 3. The MGU-K deployment cap of “250kW in some places” is not going to be enough, unless “some places” is almost “all places”. The +150kW limit in override addition is sensible to avoid massive closing deltas, but this very meager deployment limit reduction (“in some places”, whatever that means) simply doesn’t take down the deployment enough to do much to really solve the issues. We’ll still have very energy started cars at this recharge limit and deployment rate. They’ve given it a half-solution token effort, but they haven’t done quite enough to take a real dent out of what is making 2026 so utterly terrible in track in both qualifying and the races. The real immediate solutions required accepting a reduction in lap times that they seem unwilling to accept. It’s almost certain this pushback and compromise is from the teams, and one can guess that aversion is championed largely by the front running PU manufacturer (Mercedes) and the new entrant (Audi) that pushed for these regs. Mildly disappointed in this result, but not surprised. We don’t need to even see the product on track to already know the outcome of these changes - it doesn’t eradicate the problem, it just makes it slightly less bad. Physics will physics. A 4MJ battery at full capacity (note, it’s not often at full capacity entering massive deployment zones without other egregious driving antics) gives us around 15-16s of deployment at full throttle. Ramp up and ramp down slightly alters this, but we’ll keep it simple. If the battery is at 75% (a realistic figure) or if there’s less per-lap deployment left by the straight, this gives us only 11-12s of deployment time best case, in practice it will often be less if any battery has been burned for defending or overtaking into a corner before a straight. That would be less deployment time available than the WOT needs at Vegas, Mexico, Baku, Monza, Jeddah, and right at the cusp elsewhere. It doesn’t eliminate the prevalence of slowing or downshifting at the end of straights, or taking high speed sections slowly for harvesting boosts. It’s not aggressive enough of a change to really minimize that. Everything about this regulatory cycle has been predictable, but for some reason it’s just pushed ahead as if there will be no issues.
La Gazzetta Ferrari@GazzettaFerrari

🚨 | BREAKING! The FIA has confirmed agreed regulation tweaks from Miami: [1/2] - Reduction in recharge limit from 8MJ to 7MJ, plus increase in superclip power to 350kW, both designed to mean less time harvesting and encouraging more flat-out qualifying laps 📰 @ChrisMedlandF1
