We are designating vicious cartels and other transnational criminal enterprises as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), blocking their access to the international financial system, and empowering law enforcement with tools to eliminate their networks, including by freezing their assets.

The #FBI seized multiple domains linked to Iranian intelligence that were actively used to facilitate cyberattacks, post stolen data, and call for the killing of regime dissidents and U.S. residents. The FBI and @TheJusticeDept will continue to defend the homeland by disrupting Iranian hacking and repression schemes that target dissidents and impact Americans. justice.gov/opa/pr/justice…

A federal jury in Miami convicted a Brazilian national for attempting to smuggle machine gun parts from the United States to Brazil. Evidence at trial showed the defendants planned to hide HK firearm kits inside otherwise legal export shipments so they could be assembled into fully automatic rifles overseas. Thanks to the work of ATF agents and federal partners, the scheme was stopped before those weapons reached the international black market.

The operation was conducted simultaneously to law enforcement actions conducted in Canada & Germany, which targeted individuals who operated these botnets. The 4 botnets launched Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks targeting victims around the world. Some of these attacks measured approximately 30 Terabits per second, which were record-breaking attacks. 🔗justice.gov/usao-ak/pr/aut…

Justice Department Disrupts Iranian Cyber Enabled Psychological Operations “Terrorist propaganda online can incite real-world violence — thanks to our National Security Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, this network of Iranian-backed sites will no longer broadcast anti-American hate,” said @AGPamBondi. “Our cyber assets will remain ever-vigilant to root out and deactivate networks that pose a threat to American citizens.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/justice…

Three Charged with Conspiring to Unlawfully Divert Cutting Edge U.S. Artificial Intelligence Technology to China “The indictment unsealed today details alleged efforts to evade U.S. export laws through false documents, staged dummy servers to mislead inspectors, and convoluted transshipment schemes, in order to obfuscate the true destination of restricted AI technology—China,” said John A. Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. “These chips are the product of American ingenuity, and NSD will continue to enforce our export-control laws to protect that advantage.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/three-c…

🚨DISABLING FIRE STOPS SMUGGLING ATTEMPT! On March 11, at 11:45 p.m. EST, a Miami Marine Unit crew successfully interdicted a suspected smuggling vessel and apprehended 15 illegal aliens in a failed nighttime smuggling attempt off the coast of Miami. The suspect vessel, was initially detected approximately 21 miles east of Miami-Dade County and traveling west toward shore. Miami Marine Unit agents successfully interdicted the vessel two miles off shore. When Marine Interdiction Agents approached, the vessel fled. Despite law enforcement activating lights and sirens, the vessel continued to evade authorities. After the vessel failed to stop, agents first discharged warning rounds. When that did not work, disabling rounds were discharged into the engine, ultimately bringing the vessel to a halt. Agents observed one adult male Bahamian operating the vessel and discovered 14 additional occupants onboard: four Dominican male adults, three Ecuadorian male adults, one Haitian male adult, one Haitian male minor, and five Haitian adult females. A nearby Lauderdale Marine Unit vessel assisted in securing the scene and transporting all occupants to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) William Flores for processing. USCGC Flores’ crew returned 11 of the illegal aliens to their origin country, the Bahamas, on Sunday. The other four illegal aliens were subsequently arrested by DHS’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida for their roles in the alien smuggling venture. #BorderSecurity

Four illegal aliens are facing federal charges after a maritime interdiction off the coast of Miami-Dade disrupted an illegal smuggling operation. Law enforcement stopped a vessel attempting to bring undocumented migrants into the U.S., with four individuals taken into custody and now facing prosecution. Those involved could face significant prison time, reinforcing that human smuggling ventures at sea will be detected, disrupted, and punished.
