@PKCarldon @p_m_sylvestre I've read multiple pieces of advice that said queries should be between 250-350 words. The letter is supposed to answer 5 questions. I wanted to make sure it answered all 5 questions. But while it looks long; it's only 337 words.

@mnoe @p_m_sylvestre Congratulations Mikala!🎉 And thanks for sharing your query letter. The pitch was longer that the queries I've read. Do you think giving detailed stakes/synopsis might grab agent's attention?

I've debated sharing this (because trust me, I recognize the unicorn). It's rarely the first book you query that lands you an agent, and that was true for me. This has been a whirlwind and I am eternally grateful for the kind comments I received from agents during this process.

Help! The @reds stadium permits purses less than 12x12x6 but does not permit coolers. However, the guidelines do not define “purse.” What if your fanny pack purse is smaller than the size limit for purses and just happens to be a cooler too?

I always buy at @Lowes. Last week I bought a range on sale. Paid, scheduled delivery, followed progress. Yesterday: "not in stock, please cancel and order something else." (I have not!) WTF? Today I called in and realize: THEY LIED! "80 in stock for delivery, but you have to cancel and reorder. (at twice the price.)" Fix this Lowes. I will not cancel.... you want to cancel it, go ahead and I'll buy from the (yucky) orange competition, but this is shady AF.

Querying authors and agents, When an agent requests a full via Query Tracker, and I upload my manuscript, do agents expect a message from me, too? I just uploaded the file, not wanting to litter their inbox...or does that seem impersonal? I don't want to be superfluous.

@xtnaboyd I’m not sure what agents expect but I always send a message with it marked as “other.”
