A lot of our fans will be disappointed we didn’t go in for him but tbh I never understood the hype He done well for Motherwell and he has a good style of play but he’s not been anything incredible 2 wins in his last 10 and got Motherwell 4th hardly calls for the Celtic job imo

@henrywinter Henry I think Motherwell playing the style we’ve been playing all season taking it to the big teams has also helped a little bit keep talking our game up as always 👍👍

Ten reasons why Heart of Midlothian have already changed Scottish football for the better, whatever happens at Celtic Park today... 1) Interest levels risen at home and abroad. 2) Better competition. 3) Possible improvement in co-efficients with a strong Hearts heading into Europe. 4) Reminder of what can be done with shrewd recruitment (£300k net spend in summer window taking into account Penrice sale). Blend of data from the gem-finding geniuses of Jamestown Analytics and a good judge of players and inspiring man-manager in Derek McInnes. 5) Reminder of what can be done by fans – Foundation of Hearts (“Be Part Of The Disruption”) have 8,000 members/owners and have raised £20m for the club. 6) Big-hearted benefactors like James Anderson and Ann Budge, caring for their community. 7) Big-hearted initiatives like Hearts fans buying additional season tickets and donating them to kids at Dalry Primary School, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital charity and elsewhere. 8) Reminder of what can be achieved through togetherness within a club, within a squad and within a fanbase. 9) Reminder to others that the great Old Firm duopoly can be challenged. Believe. 10) Finally, what a song and Colin Chisholm’s stirring pre-match rendition. The talk of the toon are the boys in maroon. #Hearts

@pieandbov You’ve contradicted yourself it’s all ifs and buts if it is then surely it’s not clear and obvious Dallas was only covering himself for not giving the maeda claim and then the slightest touch on slattery could easily have been given

The morning after the night before. Firstly, it’s 2026, let’s stop using still images to try and confirm anything that happens on a football pitch. Video brings context. Secondly, and related to point one, for fucks sake use some common sense. An image showing two balls and an English Premier League badge on the Motherwell shirt is actually being circulated by some people as “proof” of what happened 😂 Thirdly, unless you are genuinely blind, I think we can all agree on one point now. The ball absolutely DOES hit his hand, the evidence of that in slow motion and zoomed in, is absolutely clear. Fourth, the distance on the ball is because Nicholson does indeed head it, but he heads it with his hand between his head and the ball. Again that is absolutely clear when you watch it zoomed in and in slow mo, IMO. So, and this is only my opinion of course, the only debate to be had is about whether the hand is in an unnatural position or if his hand has ended up there because of contact from Trusty. For me, whilst his arm isn’t making his silhouette bigger, you can’t really say it being on his forehead is a natural position 🤷‍♂️ Whether a nudge by Trusty pushed his arm up there is I suppose up for some debate but that’s pretty subjective, again IMO, and could be argued either way. So, despite the initial furore, by me included, I genuinely can see why this has been given. In terms of “the worst VAR decision of all time”it’s not even close to being as bad as either of the penalties Hearts didn’t get just three days ago at the same ground. Most neutrals, me included, want Hearts to win the league, and that incident last night was massively disappointing, but I think we all need to calm down a bit. What it has shown though, is that we desperately need more and better camera angles if we are stuck with VAR, and we also need much clearer and consistent decisions on handball cos we are making an absolute arse of dealing with it up here. Some refs give what others don’t, and it’s incredibly frustrating (again see Fir Park on Sat night). That’s my 2p worth anyway, all I know for sure is it’s a very good time to be a football forum owner 🤪

Now the dust has settled.. The reaction from many high profile people is way over the top. John Beaton was advised to go to the monitor and saw that the ball hit the arm in an unnatural position Bottom line is people would hate to see Celtic win the title again and that is all.

If we want to talk about handball decisions I'd start by talking about the Hearts defender being allowed to slap the ball away as Tawanda is about to go through on goal.

Our party has suffered a historic defeat. Many good Labour colleagues have lost their seats despite working hard for those they represented. We have lost good Labour administrations and lost the chance for more. What we are doing isn’t working, and it needs to change. This may be our last chance. The Labour Party must now live up to our name: we must be the party of working people. We’ve heard the same on the doorstep as we’ve seen in the polls - the cost of living is the top issue for voters of all parties. People have turned to populists and nationalists because we have not done enough to fix it. Living standards are barely higher than they were a decade and a half ago. People feel hopeless - that the cost of living crisis will never end, and now they see oil and gas companies use global instability to post record profits. Once again, ordinary people are paying the price for decisions they didn’t make. It’s no wonder that across the UK, working people feel the system is rigged against them. Things can be so much better than this. Countries including Spain and Canada have shown that economies can grow and people can thrive when governments stay true to labour and social democratic values and put people first. We need to learn from that. In London, we lost young people who fear they will never afford a home. In my patch and across the north, we lost working people whose wages are too low and costs too high. In Scotland and Wales, people do not currently see Labour as the answer.  We are in danger of becoming a party of the well-off, not working people. The Peter Mandelson scandal showed a toxic culture of cronyism.  Decisions like cutting winter fuel allowance just weren’t what people expected from a Labour government. For too long, successive governments have allowed wealth and power to concentrate at the top without a plan to ensure the benefits of economic growth are shared fairly. The result is an economy that does not work for the majority, with wealth concentrated in too few hands. This level of inequality, alongside squeezed living standards, is the outcome of a model built on deregulation, privatisation, and trickle-down economics. But we have the chance to fix this.  1/2
