I really don’t like to say much but at this time I think the Phillies need a new hitting coach with a different approach because a lot of the young kids stopped improving and some of the others aren’t taking to what approach to use.

@MikeSielski Michkov didnt lose the game. Dont think anyone believes he did. Playoffs aren't the time to work through learning and development problems though. Bump is next batter up

The Michkov discussion is understandable and expected. He's not playing well. But it's worth noting that if Dan Vladar stops a stoppable shot and doesn't commit a big-time blunder to hand the Penguins a goal, the discussion might not be taking place at all.

I probably wouldn't scratch Michkov, because I do think he has the upside to explode offensively at any time.
But the idea that it's unwarranted and unfair is ridiculous. He's not playing well. He's been the least effective of all of the top-9 forwards. It's obvious.

Trade: Vikings are sending former Pro-Bowl LB Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a third-round pick tonight (No. 98) and a third-round pick next year, per me and @rapsheet. Greenard and the Eagles reached agreement on a four-year, $100 milllion extension that includes $50 million fully guaranteed, per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

Tocchet says that their plan is to have two lines share the Crosby matchup at 5v5. Says it'll be tougher to get the matchups they want on the road, but given the logistics of line matching and Crosby being strategic with his shifts, they basically have to split the Crosby duties.

As a Philadelphia sports fan, I don't really HATE Pittsburgh, I just view them as a Midwestern city that doesn't even have an NBA team. I view Philly's sports rivals as the other big east coast cities.

@jbaraldi11 But having Risto (and I'm far from convinced he makes it through the offseason still on the team, to be clear) means that Jiricek can be more easily developed Drysdale style (sheltered 3rd pair mins) rather than being rushed into a 4/5 role.

Good work by Jackie to get Briere to articulate something I strongly suspected regarding the decision to keep Risto.
They believe they'll be able to get similar offers for him in the offseason/next deadline as were offered last week. That's the bet they're making.
