The Sexual Offences Act is deeply flawed and promotes paedophilia. Age of consent is 16 years, which exempts many predators posing especially as teachers from criminal liability. The Marriages Act requires parental consent for anyone below the age of 21 years who wish to get married, because in this instance the law recognises that these are kids. However, the Sexual Offence Act deems it acceptable for an adult to engage sexual activities with a 16 year old kid. Age of consent should be amended to 21 years. In Japan things are worse. Age of consent is 13 years.
