We're rolling out a small tweak to boost visibility of your posts to your mutuals (people who you follow back). We noticed this data was missing from the algo and it made your friends appear less in your replies. This resulted in the reply section feeling more like a battleground with people you don't recognize. This should also help clusters form around interests more easily, which many people have asked for.

Do it before it's too late. 🫵 Losing access to your crypto wallet is a solved problem. The industry just hasn't shipped the fix to consumers. Every self-custody wallet gives you the same choice: write down 12 words and never lose them, or trust a company not to disappear. Both are bad. One puts the risk on you. The other puts it on someone else. Recovery contacts fix this. You pick up to 3 people you trust. If you lose your phone or passkey, one of them approves your new device by signing on their side. They can never spend your money on their own. The wallet stays self-custodial, you just stop being a single point of failure.

If you use Moneda, open Settings → Security → Recovery and add at least one. Takes 90 seconds. It's the difference between "I lost my phone" and "I lost all my money."

Payment references are now live on Moneda. Add the reference a biller asks for, and pay invoices the same way you pay a friend. Why does it matter? Send money without a reference and a business sees the payment arrive, but cannot tell who it came from. The reference is what connects it to you. So the account you use can now settle an invoice, pay utility bills, or pay a company that accepts a bank transfer.

You don't hold the money in your bank. Your bank does. When your balance sits with a bank or an exchange, you own a claim on an institution, and you trust it to honour that claim. Usually it does, but sometimes it doesn't. Self-custody is the other option. You hold your money directly, and nobody else can move or freeze it. For years it had a hard catch: the seed phrase. One lost piece of paper, and the money was gone for good. That has changed. Self-custody now works without a seed phrase. A passkey on your device takes the place of the twelve words, so there's nothing to write down and nothing for a scammer to talk out of you.
