My opinion is far too much media attention is given is to the threat of AGI as opposed to real world apps today of narrow AI. This feeds the 'machines vs humans' narrative despite the real impact of AI for the foreseeable future is the collaboration of tech & human ingenuity.

Algebra is the most powerful tool in mathematics. It is also its most beautiful. We need to teach both--or we are marginalizing algebra/math's purpose. Which means we are marginalizing the purposes of students in our classrooms. Teaching the history of algebra does both.

Today's PSA: "Learning Loss" is a made-up construct and only serves to deflate students, educators, and caregivers. It invalidates their hard work and resiliency, ignores all the learning that happened, and adds unnecessary stress. #remotelearning #education

STORY TIME: My brother coached a 1992 AAA hockey team for a bunch of years from when they were about 9-14 yrs old. The team had Skinner, Toffoli, Smith-Pelley, McFarland and Balisy. Gudbranson and Seguin were on the team at some point, I think as well. They were phenomenal.
