@mongi_writes Criticising outsiders is fair, but claiming people “obviously” support a leader misunderstands politics. Rwanda has real development gains , but also widely noted limits on opposition space (HRW, Amnesty). Support and constraint can both exist, don’t oversimplify either way.

Random rant but this almost always comes up when I meet “foreigners”….Honestly I really have no patience for people that try and frame a suspicion that Rwandans “can’t actually like their President that much” because they can’t relate to having ever even tolerated their own leadership. You guys sound just like the people that claim that no couple is actually happy deep down, because the partner you’re stuck with rolls their eyes when you enter the room and hates your mother. You built yourself an eco chamber filled with like-minded people, where misery is universal, because you couldn’t possibly confront the likelihood that it is your choices - or God’s, or both - that have led you to your dissatisfaction, while others are enjoying more satisfactory and hopeful circumstances.
