@SaffronOlive I've never been a fan of commander. I'll play it if that's what my friends want to play.But I prefer the real game-30+ year veteran of mtg.

Wizards needs to view organized play as a long term investment in the game. Yes, Commander is king at the moment, but who knows what the game will look like in 5 or 10 years? Who would have predicted Commander's rise 15 years ago? More support for 1v1 competitive play seems like a great hedge against an unknown future.
