I’ve loved AL’s ascension the past few years, but it’s clear that Knight runs China. It’s hard to argue that he isn’t China’s GOAT at this point. The form he’s maintained combined with his results are incredible.

Why would people be excited about a teenager being rebellious and cringe? No one is reacting like this. Mixtape is fully aware that its characters are cringe. It's like thinking people watch Ferris Bueller or The Breakfast Club and can't see the cringe.

@fecklessman @Manaunaun Perhaps you require 1:1 verisimilitude with art. I do not. The game is called Mixtape. The visual style is also an amalgamation of different eras like the music. It’s done this way to draw different references and emotions.

@MonteCristo @Manaunaun the problem with this strategy is that nearly everyone that remembers when this actually happened is still around and a lot of them are still playing games. and it costs little to nothing to just get enough of the details right to at least attempt to avoid cognitive dissonance.

I’m not sure it’s supposed to get details right. It’s pretty clear that it’s set in an ambiguous time period for a couple reasons: 1. It’s using the transition from analogue to digital media as symbolism for coming of age 2. It’s supposed to cast a wide enough net to be nostalgic for a broad swath of people

@MonteCristo I could only catch a little, but your stream last night was great. Watching the game at a slower pace does give it room to tell an affective story vs ooc clips I just can't tell if it's all too twee and overwrought/forced - a period piece that gets details wrong but mood right
