The funniest thing about this statement is that Gaia Force is also well-behaved and loves to be around people; also TBs are known to be "hot-blooded" and "feisty" so I think Gold Ship just fits the description of a Thoroughbred horse.

@fagnestachyon Like it makes more sense for European breeders to think that way since milers are the trend, but Japanese stayers are still speed biased and can drop down in distance, so it's just trying to copy their trends. If they really wanted to chase Europe they should breed sprint/milers

Check the sires of the top 3 finishers in the Osaka Hai, Japan's Top spring middle-distance G1. See the pattern? All three have Staying on their resume. Japan isn't Europe so a stayer stallion doesn't mean an automatic flop here. It's just a different style of racing after all

@fagnestachyon Off the top of my head I think the only recent horses to win a crown and go to the Autumn tenno sho when they could have were Efforia and Museum Mile. The others were either never getting 3000m or went the to arc

I was just talking about how a JP double crown horse (Satsuki Sho + Derby) might not appear again for a long time but if we do get to see one, their connections are 100% not going to the Kikkasho & it will probably cause national outrage so a part of me wants to see it happen lol

@moonparade_ @Sagacupoftea There's only one 4+ Japanese horse rn which I think is truly worthy of challenging the Arc but I prefer not to speak out loud to save myself from embarrassment later if the horse actually went there flopped

Looking back, sending a promising 3yr old into his first all-age race which was a European 12f G1 swamp, with both the rider & trainer having zero experience in Europe, against world-class horses was not very smart. Hopefully they've learned. Give him a proper campaign this year
