Forgotten Saturdays: Wisconsin–Whitewater RB Justin Beaver (2004–2007) They say you always remember your first time… or something like that. I remember the first time I was truly locked into D3 football, and it was because of the dominance I saw from Justin Beaver. Beaver grew up in Palmyra, Wisconsin, starring at Palmyra-Eagle High School and leading the program to some of its most successful seasons in school history. He arrived on campus at Wisconsin–Whitewater in 2004 and was used sparingly before exploding onto the national scene in 2005. That season, Beaver rushed for 2,420 yards and powered the Warhawks to the national title game against Mount Union. It marked the beginning of a championship rivalry that defined the era, as the two programs would meet in 7 straight title games and 9 of the next 10 overall. Whitewater fell 35–28, but the standard had been set. In 2006, Beaver followed with another strong campaign, rushing for 1,369 yards as the Warhawks once again ran into Mount Union, losing 35–16 in the title game. Then came 2007, really my first year following Division III extensively. Beaver delivered one of the greatest seasons in D3 history, rushing for 2,455 yards, winning the Gagliardi Trophy, and leading Whitewater to its first national championship with a 31–21 win over Mount Union. By the end of his career, Beaver had piled up 6,584 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns, cementing himself as one of the most decorated and productive backs in program history. More than the numbers, it was the workload, the consistency, and the way he controlled games that stuck with me. A true Forgotten Saturday — the player who made me realize greatness exists at every level of the sport. #ForgottenSaturdays #WarhawkNation #PoundTheRock #PoweredByTradition
