@JHWeissmann When my sister drove me around New England looking at colleges in 2004 we got to Hampshire and we walked around for five seconds and I was like “there is no point in even finding the admissions department. My answer is no.”

I don't know if it's true today but back when I was applying to college Hampshire was a place where you picked if you wanted to smoke weed and write poetry, and generally had a "wealthy white kid with dreads" rep. Kind of a high sticker price for that.
Dr. Clayton Forrester@DrClaytonForre1

Hampshire College costs $77,752 per year to attend, or $311,008 for a 4-year bachelor's degree. That includes tuition, housing, dining and miscellaneous fees. In the current economy, it would be almost impossible for any student paying this to generate a positive return on investment. In a few years, many small liberal arts colleges like Hampshire will close their doors forever.

"[Nabaa-McKinney] cited concerns about accountability as another reason she does not support charter expansion" @drberthena4edu why don't we have unified accountability for ALL types of @MetroSchools public schools: district/zoned, magnet, and charter?

@marcportermagee It seems like the current executive branch also can’t answer this question; and the legislative branch is unwilling to correct this.

@FOXNashville If we’re serious we’d have LPRs and other cameras (including speed cameras) on all busy corridors.

A tragic weekend is raising new concerns in South Nashville 💔 Two people were killed in a hit-and-run along Lafayette Street, a corridor neighbors say has seen multiple deadly pedestrian crashes in recent years. Data shows a troubling pattern — with several fatalities reported along the same stretch since 2023. Residents point to speeding, poor lighting and gaps in sidewalks as ongoing safety issues. With lives lost and more close calls, many are asking: What will it take to make this road safer? Read more about it: bit.ly/41k7naJ

@PeterMoskos Where I am almost everyone please to reckless unless you have blood. Then DUI 1 is a suspended sentence and victim impact class. No real jail until DUI 3 normally (which doesn’t include the initial reckless.)

@vrgldh @realpamphleteer Shrinking the council will also help…if your rep can actually make a difference you might bother to vote!

Starting to see reporting from legacy outlets on the election bill that would move Metro elections to same cycle as Presidential. It would transform the city's electorate, and in turn, council and mayor. @realpamphleteer reported on this two weeks ago: pamphleteer.co/newsletter/sta…

@realpamphleteer Currently, only 1 in 5 Nashville residents vote. During Presidential years, 3 in 5 vote. The reason you see such a dysfunctional council is because no one knows about or votes in these elections. Moving the elections would be a game changer for the city.

@tnnaterau Great idea! Metro elections have such low turnout. Last mayoral race had 20% turnout. School board and judicial primaries are routinely <10% of registered voters. Moving them to even years when we vote federal would help!

Tennessee Republicans are pushing a bill that would change when Metro and other local governments hold their elections. Currently, Metro elections are held in odd years. The GOP plan would require them to be held in even years to line up with presidential or governor's races.

@DanDistrict7 @vrgldh This is thanks to rapid development on Trinity Lane - the worst kind of building…generic apartments and townhouses that look kinda nice now, but are over-priced and are going to fade and eventually look like the apartments on Hwy 70 in Bellevue or off Bell Rd in Antioch.

Much smarter people than me have pointed out the absurdity of touting this stat as anything other than a low volume data blip. But what’s really funny is that Fox Nashville’s office is in this zip! They could just look outside and see how goofy it is to repeat it!
FoxNashville@FOXNashville

A Nashville, Tennessee neighborhood just claimed the top spot in the nation for inbound moves, according to a new report. The hot ZIP code led the country with 12.8 moves per 1,000 residents in February. See the full report >> bit.ly/4c3PoKK

Memphis crime is down across the board under a Trump-backed task force, with motor vehicle thefts down 67% and homicides down 35%. Congressman Andy Ogles now wants the National Guard in Nashville, but Senator Jeff Yarbro says the move would be illegal and unnecessary. bit.ly/4uOvCev

One compromise/ reform that could end the standoff of DHS funding: ICE agents henceforth won’t wear masks in any situation where other law enforcement officers don’t wear masks, courthouses, the streets of our cites, etc. Masks are reserved for the lawless zone along the border where the cartels dominate.
Bloomberg TV@BloombergTV

Republican Senator Rand Paul tells @jmathieureports that ICE officers should not be wearing masks in cities where other law enforcement are unmasked. They speak at the Capitol bit.ly/4bs79Dc

This rendering by AJ Capital for the new Belle Meade Plaza development is ridiculous. This is supposed to be the backside of the development. One glaring omission: there is a train track that runs directly behind the property.

@ajlamesa If memory serves McD’s put a lot of money into McCafe - in some stores as additional menu items, in some as separate nooks, and in a few pilots as standalones. Just didnt stick…must’ve lost money.
