In the midst of the pandemic, the economic collapse and climate change, Medicare for All, a $15 minimum wage, the Green New Deal, canceling student debt and taxing billionaires are not radical ideas. They are exactly what the American people want and need.

As bad as the pandemic has been for the overall economy, it has been far worse for Black and Latino workers. During the pandemic, nearly 60% of Latino families and 55% of Black families have either experienced a job loss or a pay cut. Congress must act NOW.

Kindness matters. But kindness does not = justice. Civility counts. But calling for civility is not the humane response to injustice. Justice is. Love is essential. But love is not a passive, weeping bystander. Love puts in work.

A lot has happened since Dr. King left us. He probably wouldn't recognize the landscape if he saw it, but I still believe he would still have the same spiritual faith and also faith in us as people - not only people in our nation, but people in the world.

The focus of tolerance education is to deal with the concept of equality and fairness. We need to establish confidence with children that there is more goodness than horror in this world.

Today we celebrate the life of James Baldwin who passed over in to the ancestral realm on this day in 1987. Baldwin left behind a legacy so profound, one that reverberates throughout literature, academia and the history of civil rights in America.

65 years ago today, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, defying injustice, catalyzing the Civil Rights Movement, and changing America. Let us honor her by continuing the march toward justice, dignity, and equality for all. #RosaParksDay
