Bloomsbury (Harry Potter publisher) is set to receive a payout from Anthropic's historic $1.5B copyright settlement. The case centered on allegations that Anthropic used pirated books in building its AI systems. The settlement is the largest copyright payout ever and could become a defining moment in the battle between AI companies and content creators. Explore more: clerk.solvrlabs.ai

This is the perfect example of why there should be a law-enforcing agent/AI. Clerk makes sure that developers and their models are kept in check in terms of legal risks.
Bloomberg Law@BLaw

Artificial intelligence is creating yet another legal risk for developers — corporate shareholders are taking to the courts to accuse tech executives of concealing illicit AI practices like scraping copyrighted material to train their models. news.bloomberglaw.com/ip-law/big-tec…

You get a letter. Official looking. Legal words you don't understand. And that drop in your stomach that you're about to lose money you don't have. Most people just hope it goes away. It doesn't. Clerk reads it for you. 1/4

I loved Bitcoin, and I still do. But over the years, I've come to realize a few uncomfortable truths. As an investor, these are the things that have made me question my long term thesis. (might be your bottom signal) 1) You can't judge Bitcoin's performance by its early years. You have to judge it from the moment it sat at the table with the big players. Too many people still call Bitcoin the best performing asset ever. In part, that's true it was. But almost nobody acknowledges that 90% of today's market participants never experienced that price action. The reality is simple: if Michael Saylor is underwater, chances are you are too. Performance should be measured from the moment Bitcoin started competing alongside institutional capital not from the pico bottom nor the days when it was a purely speculative asset discussed only by a handful of nerds. 2) It doesn't protect against inflation. I'm sorry, but it doesn't. First, because almost nobody is 100% in Bitcoin and completely outside the fiat system. Second, because if you bought Bitcoin within the last five years, it hasn't protected you from inflation at all. And let's stop bringing up Venezuela and Argentina every time this topic comes up. Most people don't live in those countries. That's simply not their reality.(not mine at least) 3) Bitcoiners handed the stage to Tether, and nobody said or did anything. I've always believed Bitcoin's biggest competitor wasn't another cryptocurrency it was USDT and stablecoins. To this day, I still wonder: why? How does "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" end up walking hand in hand with a dollar-backed stablecoin? The contradiction is hard to ignore. 4) Bitcoin has become holy water. It's constantly portrayed as the cure for every problem in the world. It has been turned into a political movement almost a religion. That was never necessary. And honestly, I don't see all those global problems being solved because of Bitcoin. 5) It lacks privacy especially today. With increasing taxation, surveillance, and regulatory control, Bitcoin simply lacks privacy. Yes, you can run your own node, use CoinJoin, and do all the usual "yada yada." But the privacy problem remains. Nobody truly stood up against the system. Exchanges complied. They surrendered. And those who seriously tried to resist usually paid the price. So where does that leave us? 6) Performance. For several years now, Bitcoin's performance has been underwhelming. Maybe that will change. Maybe one day it will once again become the best performing asset in the world. But that's far from guaranteed. Artificial intelligence has become the defining technology of this era. It has stolen the spotlight from almost everything else, and it's here to stay. The real question is where investors will choose to allocate capital if they're looking for outsized returns over the next decade. I could keep going, but I think you get the point. So... are there any positives? Of course there are. Bitcoin is still, in my opinion, the best asset for holding wealth in self-custody. You can move it anywhere in the world. And if you've managed the privacy side properly, that's even better in fact, I'd argue that's the key. For that reason alone, Bitcoin is still worth every criticism I've listed above. To me, that's what truly matters. Bitcoin's definition has become blurred, distorted, and highly subjective. Everyone seems to have their own version of what it is. But if I had to define its greatest strength, this would be it: the ability to hold and transfer wealth under your own control.

Big shakeup at @coinbase. Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal is stepping down after 6 years of leading the exchange's historic legal battles and Washington policy push. Why this matters for traders & $COIN investors: Product Expansion: With the regulatory path cleared, Coinbase is actively shifting its focus toward product growth, including planned expansions into stock trading, prediction markets, and AI investment tools. Leadership Transition: Molly Abraham steps in as General Counsel, while Ryan VanGrack takes over global government relations as Vice Chair to navigate the upcoming Clarity Act legislation. Grewal will remain on as an adviser. Stay ahead of critical regulatory and corporate legal signals with @agent_clerk. $CLERK #LegalDataLayer #Coinbase #CryptoNews #Regulations

Can a company legally fire you and replace your entire job with AI? 🤖❌ The hard truth about U.S. employment law and the legal loopholes workers are using to fight back: 1️⃣ The "At-Will" Reality In the U.S., employers generally have the right to automate roles to cut costs. Simply being replaced by technology is not automatically grounds for a lawsuit. 2️⃣ The Hidden "Pretext" Trait The game changes if a company uses "AI restructuring" as a cover-up. If the layoffs disproportionately target protected groups (age, race, gender, disability) or punish union activity, it becomes an illegal pretext for discrimination. 3️⃣ The 60-Day Minimum Baseline Under the federal WARN Act, if a company executes a mass layoff to shift entirely to AI without giving a 60-day advance written notice, they can be sued. The minimum statutory payout? 60 days of back pay + full benefits for every single day notice wasn't provided. Don't let corporations hide behind the algorithm.
