"Fredric: A Collection of Flash Fiction" is here! Micro-stories that hit hard and fast. Witty, strange, profound, & impossible to put down. One line that struck me: “Well, today I was black.” Ready for a quick, powerful read?→ #FlashFiction" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">amazon.com/dp/B0FFJR2Z8L#… #ShortStories #NewRelease"

Kleck and Angelo Strenta in 1980, is a psychological study in which participants were given a realistic-looking fake facial scar, shown it in a mirror, and told the research was about how others react to facial disfigurements. Just before a social interaction, the makeup artist secretly removed the scar, so their face was actually normal while they still believed they were visibly scarred. In the subsequent conversation or interview, participants later reported that the other person stared at them, seemed uncomfortable, or treated them differently “because of the scar,” even though no scar was there. The core finding is that 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 bias how we interpret other people’s behavior, leading us to perceive judgment, rejection, or discrimination in ambiguous or neutral interactions.
