He shouldn’t. Another slam final gifted to Carlos, the kid who’s gonna surpass his slam count too. Why gift it if you say in the ceremony that you thought you’d never make another slam final ever again? It’s contradictory. Self sabotage at its finest. Preserve your legacy then.

Semifinal matches are almost always forgotten and overshadowed by defeats in the final. But Novak's win over Jannik is just different. He should be going home very very happy. It was amazing to see him play another slam final. Unreal longevity.

@Justine16133279 @mostennis It wasn’t necessary at all doesn’t change nothing It changes a lot giving 3-0 in slam finals to Alcaraz and losing perfect 10-0 AO finals record on the other hand. Knowing Alcaraz will be over 24 slam count for sure.

It was the last shot at #25 ! Opportuinty we waited for it last two years , some luck , some goating and at the end it didnt happen ! I think we lost the final in semi when Zverev bottled serving for sets and match !

I just realised 22 year old Carlos Alcaraz is only 13 slams behind Roger Federer, fuck lol my favourite player might not even be top 3 in slams in a few years 🤣

Top 10 worst things committed by Zverev/Medvedev when looking at Novak’s legacy: 10) Medvedev 2019 ATP Finals vs Nadal, the “thumbs up” chokejob. Ended up not mattering, Nadal was getting YE#1 anyways, but my God.. what an infuriating moment. Couldn’t replicate it 21 months later in America btw 9) barely 20 year old Zverev beating Novak in Rome to end his streak of winning a big title every year in 2017 8) Zverev injuring himself in 2022 vs Rafa in a match he could’ve won (choked away the first set too) + beating everybody in 2025 including Rafa just for him to roll over and die vs Alcaraz after being up 2:1 including the final 7) Medvedev coming back from being down 2-0 to Nadal in the 2019 USO final just for him to fail 6) 2018 ATP Finals final by Zverev to ruin a perfect end of the comeback season 5) Medvedev choking 2:0 to Sinner at the 2024 AO final and jumpstarting his 2 year invincible run (and Zverev fucking his legs in the SF with playing 5 sets which essentially cost him the final) 4) Zverev coming back from being down 2:0 to a cramping Alcaraz, being up a break in the 5th and choking it away - essentially costing Novak #25 3) 2021 Tokyo final by Zverev, picks one time in his life to be a mental giant and becomes unplayable after being down a set and a break. This would’ve been up higher, but thank God for 2024 2) Medvedev being a total idiot vs Nadal at the 2022 AO final. No need to comment on that one. 1) Medvedev 2021 USO final. No comment necessary either

This is #25 btw if Zverev isn’t a complete mental midget. Him and Medvedev have been such a net negative for Novak in the past 8-9 years

If this is the last Grand Slam final we ever see Novak Djokovic in, 19 years after the first, then let’s hope he leaves it all out there with no regrets.

The obvious worry for anyone supporting Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final is he will have had to invest everything into preparing for Jannik Sinner and had just hours to prepare for Alcaraz. Carlos Alcaraz is still the very strong favourite imo.

@samstreetwrites @mostennis This isn’t the concern. The concern is recovery. And how windy it might be. Not how to play Carlos. They’ve played a ton. He knows what he has to do. Will his body cooperate and will windy conditions (which he historically hates) allow him to do so?

I don't know which version of Djokovic will show up today, Qf or Sf? Repeating the last is practically impossible for old body with this short time gap and playing until early morning. I hope the cheating Alcaraz doesn't win this match. P.s: stressed and wont watch

@ilyza1002 @mostennis Alcaraz knew it was cramp which is why he asked for the pickle juice right after sitting down. Sportsmanship isn’t for everyone when winning is more important.

Boris Becker: "Sascha is absolutely right, and anyone would have freaked out in that moment. Because he was the winner at that moment. If Alcaraz had had to continue playing, he wouldn't have made it. Alcaraz is a clever lad, saying he had a slight pulling sensation and so on. You're allowed to take a medical time-out. Of course, the umpire can't know that, and neither can the chief umpire. You have to believe Alcaraz at first, that there's a pulling sensation, an injury, but the fact that three hours later it turned out to be a cramp and not an injury speaks to the fact that they played for so long. It's a difficult situation, and Sascha means both players, of course, so Sinner is protected and Alcaraz, both players. I can't say anything about Sinner right now, but you have to keep an eye on the rules for Sinner and Alcaraz and for the rest of the players."
SportsDeeva@Blesing_Andrew

Alexander Zverev says tennis is protecting Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, do you agree?
