Unions regularly have to lobby for all teachers to have a full meeting-free, duty-free lunch break, adequate meeting-free planning time, and even medically necessary health accommodations. This is such an oblivious take.

one of the ways you know that Harvard is a brand, not a school, is that they named their entire graduate school the Ken Griffin Graduate School after a right-wing hedge fund manager. Astonishing because WEB DuBois, perhaps the greatest scholar in US history, graduated from there!

Meanwhile, just down I-90: the W.E.B. Du Bois Library at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The tallest academic library in the world. Unlike what they do at Harvard or MIT, it is named for a scholar, not a donor.

@damiankelleher We’ve all worked with someone like Jason. Let’s be honest it’s usually women staff members that pick up the slack on tasks that need to get done for the school to function. But superstar Jason has it all figured out and most of that labor is beneath him 🙄

I was a teacher for 12 years, and I hate this sort of rhetoric. A teacher's day is done by 3 pm. They never work a night or weekend unless they want to. Only 180 work days per year, they're off 1/2 the time. It's paid appropriately, but no teachers want to hear that.
