Mahua Moitra won the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat primarily due to consolidated Muslim votes.
Krishnanagar has around 40% Muslim population. Out of its seven Assembly segments, three are heavily Muslim-dominated (approx. 55-60% Muslim).
Nakashipara is also roughly 40% Muslim.
But in the three Hindu-majority Assembly segments, Mahua Moitra trailed by more than 66,000 votes to BJP's Amrita Roy.
Her victory was driven by strong leads in the Muslim-heavy segments like Kaliganj, Palashipara, and Chapra.
Even in the 40% Muslim Nakashipara segment, she managed only a narrow lead of about 6,000 votes.
This clearly shows that Muslim consolidation was the decisive factor in her win from Krishnanagar.
