@sparhawk @gpapilion @Ramin_DK But wait, what about exploits, patches, upgrades, those require doing or you get hacked, getting hacked=bad stopping getting hacked = introduce change, which introduces problems/bugs and issues.

@robertskmiles Do you know what language/framework the gmail app written in? I was under the impression Android apps were originally all Java. I would imagine the size comes from bundling several large Java libraries with the app, even if only a small part of each is used.

I'm beyond "Why are Android apps so big?" and on to "HOW are Android apps so big?" Like, how do they even manage it? If I had to implement, say, GMail app's functionality, how could I possibly pad that out to 85MB? No media, no graphics. 85MB of code? Isn't it mostly API calls?
