and more interesting to me is the effect of wealthy western lifestyle content on those living in places where that same lifestyle is basically impossible

this is obviously a net good but also hard not to see this as a direct result of relentless social status olympics fueled by the algorithms - explicit mention of *seeing them on instagram* would we lead healthier lives if we weren't trying to impress each other? how bad is that?

i LOVE how gen z is so focused on their health, every one in five stories i see on instagram is either someone completing a marathon,a strava screenshot, a postworkout selfie and some of them are up at 7 a.m. on a SUNDAY running and posting a photo of a post-run coffee shoo cutee

@noampomsky in a sense, it's the traumatic events that are oneshotting people

@noampomsky can't always assume people don't go ape mode in relationships. the problem people end up facing here is the unconscious traumas that put them into ape mode. going ape mode means the battle is instantly lost. identifying how not to go ape mode usually helps the most.

there are a million times more people who’ve been oneshotted by attachment theory than ayahuasca. normies can’t handle attachment theory

@mowe_7 Like inside one machine you could have a server and then also have a logger running on a different core right

In large scale distributed systems are logs turned off intentionally so it doesn’t end up bottlenecking any runtime

@knowclarified sorry, i described that poorly. an instance of the logging service is co-located with each workload instance.

@mowe_7 Oh ok so it’s partitioned outside of the server? That makes a lot of sense

@knowclarified just a single service on the same box. this protects just the workload process, so bottlenecks at the host level can still occur. addressing those bottlenecks is generally a matter of provisioning enough resources. in splunk land these are called universal forwarders

@mowe_7 Wouldn’t that imply that every box would need a logger box? Or is it one logger box is watching all others
